ANGLICANS TOGETHER - MORE THAN BYSTANDER 

 SEPTEMBER UPDATE 2015

Dear Friends,

A good uptake of our Active Bystander Workshop# 1 at Ridley Theological College and St Eanswythe's Anglican Church, Altona - the latter organised by Mother's Union, Melbourne.  All up 32 parishes participated, some coming as far as the Diocese of Bendigo to attend, City Councillors and
 Health Care Professionals. Read here to check out what participants had to say. 

Reminder of events coming up in September   
  • Sunday 6 Sept, 9.30 am. Dr Ree Boddé will speak to the Anglican Parish of Diamond Creek about their role in the prevention of gender violence.
  • 15 Sept, 7.30-9.30 pm, St Stephen's & St Mary's Anglican Church, Mt Waverly. Active Bystander Workshop# 1 hosted by Mother's Union, Melbourne.  
  • 22nd Sept, Christ Church, St Kilda between 7pm-9pm. Register here for this free workshop.
  • 29 Sept, 9.15 am Australian Student Christian Movement, hosted by St Mary's Anglican Church North Melbourne. Dr Ree Boddé will present some of the strategies that turn people from passive observers to 'active bystanders' in preventing gender violence

Think Prevent welcomes the Labor announcement that Respectful Relationships Education will be included in the curriculum from 2016 in Prep through to Year 10. It will focus on challenging negative attitudes such as prejudice, discrimination and harassment, that can lead to violence, often against women. You can read this media release here
