The Friday Report

from Ally Denton
January 13, 2017
Happy Friday the 13th, fine people. Today should be a breeze considering we've been living in a constant state of horror since, oh I dunno, November 8?

But alas, all is not lost. This week's reading and watch lists will hopefully give you a heavy dose of hope and optimism. And next week, we march

New on the blog: 4 Things I'm Changing in 2017

P.S. Thank you to everyone who already read this post and signed up for the newsletter because of it! We're stoked you're here.

Lena Dunham interviews Mary Karr. Roxane Gay interviews Madonna. Glamour interview the cast of GIRLS. The latest news on the Kim Kardashian robbery in Paris. And as far as books go, I'm finally starting to plow through Bad Feminist. I'm on a Roxane Gay kick indefinitely ... can you tell?

Has anyone else been plagued with the same never-ending cold I've been battling since the holidays? It sucks. But it's given me time to watch all the things, so that's pretty okay.

I couldn't watch The Golden Globes live (ugh, #NoCableProblems) so I spent Monday catching up on all the highlights: mostly Meryl's speech, Tracee Ellis Ross's speech, Emma Stone's speech, Ryan Gosling's speech, and Jimmy Fallon's opening number. Pretty much all of them made my cry, so grab the tissues.

Certain Golden Globe wins also prompted me and bae to binge Atlanta (so good!) in the span of about three days, consider giving The Crown a chance, and plan our weekend around The People v. O.J. Simpson. Now that that's handled, I'm just counting down the days until GIRLS and Game of Thrones return. How 'bout you?

Oh, and on top of all this A+ entertainment, it was a big week for speeches from my favorite family. FLOTUS said goodbye. POTUS said goodbye and a few days later, honored Joe Biden in the best way possible. May their bromance live on through the ages.

Again, grab those tissues and maybe don't watch these alone. *Sigh*
That's all for this week, party people. May your weekend be full of good coffee, funny jokes, restful sleep, general badassery, and maybe a mimosa or two.

See you next Friday!
