The Antique Trail Sale is just around the corner!
Antique Trail Sale starts in September!
AntiqueTrail.com's main objectives are to increase the number of shoppers and buyers in your stores and to promote all member stores of AntiqueTrail.com.
If you are new to AntiqueTrail.com and did not participate in the March sale, here are the details!
A few years ago we sent out a questionnaire to all members about a spring and fall sale; an overwhelming majority agreed to participate in some way in two sales a year. There were only a few who did not wish to participate at that time, and that is fine. Many stores already have an established time for sales each year which have become traditions. We do not want to interfere. There are no rules as to what is on sale and how much discount, etc. You may have a store full of sale items or one item or one booth or a few items with a percentage off. It is a sale!
EMAIL Pattie@antiquetrail.com or FB message if you would like us to do a Antique Trail Facebook post with specifics about your sale. Otherwise, just advertise them on your Facebook page.
If all of you participate in some way, it will be the largest antique and vintage sale ever! We just have to let everyone know about both the March and September sale every year! One main reason for this sale is that it is often easy to obtain free publicity for scheduled events. Please copy and send the info below (news release) to all your Facebook friends, email buddies, your local newspapers and radio stations. Share it often on all social media! Use one of your beautiful antique or vintage pieces from your store to spread the word!
Let's concentrate on sharing the news about AntiqueTrail.com to as many as we can!

The AntiqueTrail.com Store is a great resource!
One of our newest features on AntiqueTrail.com is our store!
The AntiqueTrail.com store allows our member shops, malls, and shows to advertise specific items for sale. It also allows easy access for buyers to find these items and contact the sellers. Think of it as an easier and more personal version of those big online auction sites.
Sellers can list the items they are selling under a wide variety of categories to help the buyers find what they are looking for more easily.
For example, if you are looking for pottery, go to AntiqueTrail.com and click the Store Tab. This will take you to the list of categories. Here you can click on Pottery to see if they have what you are looking for. The sale items will come up and you can click on anything you like and you will be redirected to the contact information for the store selling the item.
After selecting your category, a list of sale items will be displayed as in the example just below. You will then click on an item you like and a page will pop up with more details and photos about the item along with the store contact information.
What do you do if you don't see what you are looking for in the AntiqueTrail.com store?
Visit AntiqueTrail.com and click the Specialty tab. Our member stores and malls can list themselves under the Specialty tab to help you find the treasure for which you are searching. We highly recommend that all members list a specialty for their store.

A note from Jack, an antiques dealer...
Dear Friends:
Life should occasionally be filled with anticipation and wild excitement like going into an antiques mall and finding two children’s paintings, in original frames, by Huntsville artist William Frye, done during the 1850s or 1860s. And then finding them priced for $100 each. How good is that for excitement? Well, I did buy two wonderful William Frye children’s portraits in original frames, but they weren’t at an antiques mall, nor were they priced at $100 each. They were slightly more than that, a little more at least.
The “girl with the red dress on” is definitely Frye at his best. Her painting is wildly exciting on its own, but putting icing on the cake is the picture of “little brother with his minnows and fishing pole.” It’s classical Frye to be painting a young boy heading for the fishing pond with pole in hand.
The life of an antiques dealer, who can’t seem to make any money, can have its exciting moments. I bought three pieces of Pre-Civil War Tennessee furniture and two Alabama portraits in July. Case Auction comes in August. I know why I can’t make any money. I keep buying instead of selling, but then there was the Haiti ladle. That money is all gone now.
Sincerely,
Jack

What to do with damaged items?
Let's face it, antiques are OLD! Whether it is a well loved family heirloom or a bargain you found at a flea market, damage happens. Thankfully, there is help out there! Antique shop owners are a great resource for helpful hints for cleaning, refurbishing, and repairing damaged treasures. Owners are experienced with the best products and methods to use. If you feel like your project is too big, then search for an experienced and preferably recommended, restoration shop!

Isn't this a clever decoration for a laundry room? Not only did they use an old ironing board, but antique hangers were added for the finishing touch that is attractive and useful!

I live in Texas and I bought an ice box. It's rather unusual because it has a glass back on it. The plaque says American Refrigerator corp...Peru Indiana. I can not find any information on this company or this ice box. Would you or anyone you know be able to give me any information? I have certain questions about it so that I may restore it accordingly. Thank you. mrs_bonilla_hooah@yahoo.com

This cabinet is from Molly's Mercantile in Galax, Va. Can you guess what this cabinet was used for?
We don't know what the "what is it" is? The drawer fronts move around but not the drawers ?
We need your help! Send your guesses to Kristin at Kristin@AntiqueTrail.com and we will publish the guesses in next month's newsletter!
