PropTech Industry News.
  • The Coterie, a Palo Alto-based liquidity and estate planning firm for startup founders, has raised $40 million in a funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz.

  • WeTravel, an SF-based business management and payments platform for multi-day travel businesses, raised $27m in Series B funding. Left Lane Capital led, and was joined by insiders Swift Ventures and Base10.
  • Sensat, a London, U.K.-based infrastructure automation company for the construction industry, raises $20.5M to build digital twins for infrastructure companies.

  • Gearflow, a Chicago-based parts marketplace for heavy equipment owners, gets $5.5M led by Brick & Mortar.

  • Safely, a provider in short-term home rental protection, has raised $12m to scale its insurance platform. The round was led by LAGO Innovation Fund with participation from Highgate Technology Ventures, Greenlight Re Innovations and other existing investors.

  • Bilt Rewards, which works with some of the country’s largest multifamily owners and operators to create loyalty programs and a co-branded credit card for property renters, entered unicorn status after securing $150 million in a growth round led by Left Lane Capital.
We previously covered Bilt a year ago when the company raised $60 million in growth funding on a $350 million valuation. Today’s investment raises that to $1.5 billion and gives the company about $213 million in total funding since the company launched in June 2021 out of Kairos, the startup studio led by Bilt founder and CEO Ankur Jain.

  • ADU's are on an eye opening rise, as seen from a report focused on California's legalization of accessory dwelling units (ADUs). Since 2016, the number of ADUs permitted has increased by 1,421 percent. As of last year, ADUs constituted roughly one in seven homes permitted in California. In cities such as Los Angeles—where home prices are high and the city’s large lots are well suited to host ADUs—the boom has been even more pronounced. The number of ADU permits issued in L.A. jumped from 80 in 2016 to 5,064 in 2021—a startling 6,230 percent increase.

  • DroneDeploy agreed to acquire StructionSite, an Oakland, Calif.-based ground reality capture provider for the construction industry. Financial terms were not disclosed.

  • Commercial Observer released their list of the 30 Most Powerful People in Commercial Real Estate PropTech. Congrats to MetaProp Partner's Zach Aarons, Aaron Block, and Maureen Waters for the win!
