EVENTS HELD LOCALLY:
Members and social members of Uttoxeter Golf Club came together to enjoy a Cheese & Wine Social Evening on Tuesday 25th August, initiated and organised by Emma Titterton (of Sharon and Emma's Traditional Cheese Stall on Longton Market).
Wedd read the first chapter and extracts from her book, answered questions and gave the first performance of her newly written song, 'You Don't Need Words' the lyrics of which are quotations from the novel.
Wedd has also made appearances and read snippets from her novel at:
Mappleton Charity BBQ garden party - North Staffs RSPCA Dog Show at Doveleys Parkinson's Support Group at Betty's Sewing Box in Ashbourne
Print book launches 26th September
Hawksworths Graphics and Print Ltd, a long-standing family business in Uttoxeter has been super-supportive! Nothing has been too much trouble to help this book come to life.
Matthew (Hawksworth) has ensured that The Walnut Tree printed book is amongst the finest produced today. He went above and beyond the norm to provide samples and make test books. The Walnut Tree is being printed onto silk matt paper and is bound with a glossy cover - it's a completely different product to a mass-produced novel.
***Handover of the books is expected w/c Monday 21st September***
Local press invited to come for photos and interviews with
Caroline Wedd and Matthew Hawksworth. More info to follow nearer the time.
Wedd comments: "I am humbled by the huge local support that The Walnut Tree is receiving and which has crystallised into the wonderful occasion at Uttoxeter Golf Club. It was a very fitting occasion on which to try out The Walnut Tree song, and also to announce the impending arrival of a limited first edition paperback version of 1000 copies of The Walnut Tree.
I'm doubly pleased that my local printer, Hawksworths Graphics and Print Ltd, Uttoxeter, are producing the book. I'm taking this next step on my publishing journey to say thank you to all the local people who support The Walnut Tree and who tell me that they want to 'hold the book in their hands'; none more so than my friend Emma who believed in me during the early days of writing The Walnut Tree when I couldn't believe in myself.
'There are no words for what this is...' ( from The Walnut Tree)
and this is probably a good thing sometimes."
Wedd took 45 pre-orders for the printed book at the Uttoxeter Golf Club Cheese & Wine Reading.
