Fund Abortion. Build Power.
Thank you for opening and reading our first monthly e-newsletter! I'm excited to use this space to keep you informed about what we have going on, sharing our challenges and victories. Recently we've bowled, celebrated local & Supreme Court victories, discussed our movement over dinner and a Big Table, eaten a ton of tacos and danced. In the last 7 months that I have had the honor of serving as WHO/O's first Executive Director I have traveled across the state, visited our wonderful abortion clinic staff and seen first hand that when we talk about the importance of abortion access people open their hearts, give what they can and get involved.
Within the abortion rights community and for patients seeking abortions in Ohio, Women Have Options has a unique and intimate understanding of how real access to abortion care comes from working at the crossroads of direct financial support, advocacy, and community culture shift. I am excited to help as WHO/O grows to meet the incredible need in Ohio as well as takes our place in a movement making waves and creating a more just and equitable future. Looking forward, we are setting a course to expand our reach and efforts. We are actively recruiting board members and volunteers from all parts of Ohio and have held events in Athens and Cincinnati. We also welcomed a new board chair, Julia D'Agostino, as well as 4 other new members to our board.
If you haven't already gone to our new website, take a look, explore and sign up to volunteer or for our monthly giving program. Last month, we brought back the Columbus Fall event with a rockin' 80's Dance party and are looking forward to Winter and Spring events including the 5th Annual Clothing Swaps and the bowl-a-thon. Women Have Options is also working on re-engaging and deepening relationships with coalition partners and the National Network of Abortion Funds so that we can work together to make the change we so desperately need. Thank you to everyone who has given me such a kind welcome and a great start to our work together. Now, let’s make some waves.
