GREY AS SNOW

Haven’t you ever experienced, as a child, the joy of the first snowflakes falling down, on a Christmas evening? Waiting for hours, your nose pressed against the window, staring at a white immaculate coat gradually wipe the urban and winter grayness, allowing Santa Claus and his reindeers to deliver the so coveted presents.

Years later, and even if I do not believe in Santa Claus anymore, the magic appeared again, this time on New Year’s Eve. I watched through the same window, with a great deal of emotion, the first snowflakes of 2017 fall on the Ile de France region.

However, the emotion quickly vanished when, a few days later, I learnt that the snowflakes had originated from pollution slicks that still had not dissipated. Snowflakes originated from fine particles released by the smokestacks of plants and houses! That was just enough to convince "The Adjuster’s Notes" Committee to release a special issue focusing on environment. We were about to launch the "Green Revolution" announced during the Grenelle Environment Forum … 10 years ago already! (at a time where urban snow did not exist yet).

More modestly, our loss adjusters wanted to make you experience, through their respective specialties, the initiatives and innovations that contribute (or will contribute in the future) to preserve our planet. Because environment protection is not a privilege of the energy sector but concerns every field, from transportation to construction, from public civil engineering to finance.
So, as our initiatives are not just green but also rely on innovative technologies and remain faithful to our values, we must talk to you.

Enjoy your reading!

ENVIRONMENTAL TAXATION: A RENEWABLE SOURCE OF LIABILITY

With the carbon tax, the CSPE (contribution to the public service of electricity) and the tax credit for energy renovation, environmental taxation has been playing in the last few years a more and more important role in everyday life, impacting the tax sheet of individuals and companies. Customers expect law counsel and accountancy professionals to optimize their fiscal choices. This generates new risks.

HYBRID PUBLIC WORK MACHINES TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT

In the beginning hybrid engines were developed by automotive industry but today hybrid engines have the wind in their sails for public works machines. Manufacturers pay a special attention to reduce the consumption of their machines and to pollute less. A necessity, knowing that the taxation project of CO2 emissions goes on and Tier 4 antipollution regulations are evolving.

ECO-FRIENDLY AND SMART CARGOS IN FUTURE!

The predictable growth of maritime transportation (15 billion tons of goods carried in 2050 compared to 10 billion tons in 2014) encourages manufacturers and shipowners to redouble their imagination in order to prepare the future and adopt a sustainable development pursuant to international commitments.

NEW INSURANCE STAKES RELATED TO WOODEN BUILDINGS

Should we stop "investing in bricks" and start
"investing in wood"? Is this the end of the “all concrete” era? If the bill is fascinating from an economical, ecological, architectural and healthy point of view, we must not underestimate nor neglect the risk management related to this new lifestyle.

It is the maximum saving percentage announced for the installation of a thermodynamic balloon. For an average cost of around 3500 €, the advantages are many: reduced VAT, tax credit, energy bonus, RT 2012.
