Classes for 2019
Just a quick newsletter to tell you that booking is open for these upcoming classes and tour for 2019! If you have seen our YouTube videos you may have seen my sister Caroline teaching Tambour work, well now you can join her in person! Check out her new workshops below.

Caroline and I are also running two Drawing and Design for Embroidery classes together at the Royal School of Needlework next year so if you are ready to take the next step in your work and would like to know how to design your own pieces then this is the class for you! Tambour for Beginners

Fridays 11th, 18th and 25th January 2019, 10.00 – 12:00
(6 hours over 3 weeks, 2 hours a session)

Venue: I Made This, Church Street, Godalming, Surrey

Learn the art of tambour beading, sometimes known as couture beading. You’ll learn how to make chain stitch on fabric using the special tambour hook, how to attach beads, sequins and pearls, and combine them to make rich and sparkling designs.

COST: £90 for the three sessions plus materials at £14 or £104 for tuition and materials.

EQUIPMENT: Bring your own barrel clamp and 10” embroidery frame, scissors and personal sewing equipment if you have them. The tutor will have frames and tambour hooks to borrow and buy.

Caroline Homfray teaches Tambour (amongst other things) at the Royal School of Needlework, and is known by her students for her patience, warmth and ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment. She loves to experiment with all sorts of crafts, as well as drawing and painting, and exhibits with the textile group Wey Valley Workshop.

Drawing and design for embroidery

5th-7th July 2019

This class is open to all stitchers who wish to develop their design skills and aims to give you confidence in the drawing and design process to help you work on unique designs for your embroidery projects. This is a 3 day practical course, with lots of doodling, drawing, and experimenting with media. You'll learn some theory of composition, and how colour works. On the final day you will bring it all together as you work on your own embroidery design. We will be giving you very practical ways of drawing and boosting your confidence in your own skills.
