Letter from the President

Memorial Day weekend marked the unofficial start of summer. School is out, the days are longer, and our pace becomes a bit more languid. Our thoughts turn to days we hope to spend on hot breezy beaches. Our toes in the sand, some light reading and a cold beverage will be rejuvenating diversions from the stress of day to day life. Or maybe we will escape to the mountains for cooler weather, fishing in a cold trout stream or hiking a trail. Some of us can take advantage of the longer days by working on long neglected home improvement projects.

One of our goals at Georgia Primary Bank is to help our clients build happy summertime memories of time spent with family and friends. Vacations, weddings, boating at the lake, camping or, as mentioned, home improvements can all be part of a happy, productive summer.

A recent survey* indicated that 64% of Americans experience stress at some time over their financial situation. We can help alleviate financial stress by offering our help to those who want a much-needed getaway, or to finish the long postponed home improvement project but are worried about cash on hand.  Our Home Equity Line of Credit can help pay for the dream vacation or home improvements that our clients may be dreaming about. Plus, for a limited time, we are offering an introductory rate of 1.79% APR for 9 months on our Home Equity Line of Credit. (Please see our ad in this issue for details).

Life should not be spent endlessly worrying about money - it is the memories of happy times spent with family and friends that matter most. Let us help. Enjoy your summer!

Important Information About Your New Chip Card

Georgia Primary Bank recently sent out new debit cards embedded with the newest chip technology.  This chip adds an added layer of secutiry providing greater protection against fraud. The new chip card will also make traveling easier and more convenient with its world wide acceptance. the card continues to have the traditional magnetic strip on the back, enabling you to use it at merchants without chip-enabled terminals.

How It Works
  • Merchants, such as a grocery store, may ask you to insert your card into the terminal or they may ask you to swipe the magnetic stripe
  • If you are asked to insert the card, look for a slot on the bottom-front of the terminal and insert your card face up with the chip first.
  • Leave your card in the terminal until the transaction is complete.
  • The terminal will prompt you to sign or enter a PIN to validate your identity.
  • Take your card when prompted and don't leave it behind.

Congratulations to our recent employee promotions! Peggy Petty (top) was promoted to Assistant Vice President, Loan Operations Manager and Beth Szala (bottom) was promoted to Assistant Vice President, Cash Management Treasury Services. Well deserved you two!

Employee Spotlight

Brett Timmer joined Georgia Primary Bank as a Senior Credit Analyst and Banking Officer in August 2015. Brett's experience includes underwriting various commercial loan products including commercial mortgages, term loans, lines of credit and SBA facilities.

He began his career with Chemical Bank upon completing his BA in Economics & Management from Albion College. During his four years at Albion, Brett pitched for the baseball team and volunteered as a mentor at a local elementary school. Brett also volunteered for local youth baseball teams and continues to do so at NYO in Buckhead.

Asked what Brett enjoys about his job at the bank Brett stated, "I enjoy analyzing new borrowers' financial statements, understanding their business, and providing the right financing to help the company achieve its goals."

Outside of the office, Brett enjoys spending time with his wife, Kari, exploring Atlanta, and playing various sports such as slow-pitch softball or golf.
