Dear <<First Name>>

At the EGM on 6th October 2018 Scouting Ireland began a journey of transition towards becoming a modern, forward-looking charity fully compliant with the Governance Code by electing a new Board of Directors. This new board of oversight has since set in motion a number of strands of work which will result in a stronger, more confident organisation able to meet the needs of young people and their parents for many years into the future.

In May 2019 open calls were issued for each of five board subcommittees (click here to view). Appointments to these committees commenced in June and each committee will be providing support to the Board of Directors.

The work continued with the establishment of the Transition Department in July 2019. The department has been working with senior managers and volunteers to establish other department teams, and you will have seen the open call for these teams in August 2019 (click here to view).

Appointments to these teams have been made and five out of six departments now have a core team established and beginning work. Appointments to the final department core team – Finance and Compliance – are ongoing and anticipated to be complete early in the New Year.

The first task for these core teams has been to establish project teams to carry on the day-to-day work of the departments – such tasks as developing and organising training, working on development of programme and youth representation, running Scouting Ireland’s national centres, and the organisation of events. Open calls have been issued and can be viewed at the links below. Many more open calls to project teams will be issued in the new year.

We have been delighted at the response to the open calls to project teams so far and would like to thank all those who have put themselves forward to carry out these important tasks at national level in Scouting. The support of these dedicated volunteers will be invaluable in bringing Scouting Ireland forward. We would encourage all who have an interest in developing Scouting in Ireland to keep an eye on the weekly mailings for more open calls in the New Year. There is now a real opportunity for those who have never before been involved in Scouting at a national level to use their skills to benefit the organisation and young people across Ireland, and we are committed to ensuring that this continues.

We would like to wish all members of Scouting Ireland a peaceful Christmas and happy New Year.

Yours in Scouting
