Dear SOGH supporters,
Here comes our summer newsletter full of exciting news!
We are happy to announce that we raised over 5 400 kr during our 2-week fundraiser in April. All money will go directly to the Maama Project in Uganda, where it will be used to provide birth kits, information and educational home visits to over 50 expectant mothers. Team members in Stockholm organized a flea market sell in Stockholm during Mother's day and collected 1 600 kr in donation.
A group of medical students organized a fundraiser for the Maama Project by biking from Stockholm to Göteborg. The students arrived at their destination on the west coast last week and successfully raised 6 880 kr. You can read about their journey here (https://www.facebook.com/cyklakusttillkust) and show your support by donating here (youcaring.com/kusttillkust) until Friday 17th June.
SOGH interns 2016 have already packed their bags and are ready to leave for Iganga. The interns will collect data regarding the the evaluation of Maama Project, in addition of helping out in other UDHA projects, such as community outreach for nutrition and hiv, during their stay.

Swedish company Tretorn as kindly donated 12 pair of rubber boots which will make it a lot easier for our community health workers to conduct their work despite bad weather.
Finally, we are thrilled to announce that we have received a grant from Volvo Employees’ Aid Association (link to: http://www.vuh.nu/vuh-in-english/about-vuh/) dedicated to the Maama Project. The grant will allow us to keep working on improving the health of mothers and newborns in Mayuge district and also to start distributing chlorhexidine, a disinfectant which has been shown to be very effective in preventing umbilical cord infections.
Thank you for your invaluable support and we wish you all a good summer!
