PORTRAIT IN PASTEL LEVEL 1 WITH DAVID WELLS WORKSHOP
This workshop was well attended and an amazing demonstration of talent was uncovered by the participating artists. As always, it was a well organised and thoughtful workshop. Everyone was fully engrossed and produced outstanding pastel portraits. It is always a pleasure to have David back on our island, and especially running workshops at MIAC. Many thanks David.
Feedback from this workshop was a resounding “YES PLEASE” for David to do a Pastel/Portrait workshop (Level 2) before the end of the year.  Details currently being finalised, so watch this space for the further information.

LIFE DRAWING GROUP:
Unfortunately Judith was not well and unable to attend last Friday’s life drawing group.  We wish you good healing and look forward to seeing you very soon, once again on top of your game Judith.  Also the day’s model, Tommy was not well and couldn’t make it.  Be well Tommy.
Feedback from Ted was that even though there were confusions aplenty, a great adventure was had by all and they got stuck into drawing one another.  Joshua, Jasmin, Tim and Sue were new attendees – Welcome all.

THANK YOU:
To our lovely Tracy Milchick for the wonderful poster she whips up, so proficiently, often on short notice, and for the very many facebook promos and reminders she posts for us.
You are indeed a treasure.

Evelyn’s taxi service – comes with the biggest smile.

Subject: artist needed
Hi Everyone
I am looking for someone who can turn marine debris into art pieces.  I am putting together a School Holiday Program and would like a couple of workshops on making art from rubbish with young people involved.  We have been collecting a wide range of marine debris over the past couple of months and now want to do something with it.  Youth Workers will be present during sessions to assist with the workshop.
If this sounds like you or you know someone please contact Chook.
Cheers

Queensland artists are invited to submit a design proposal for a modern outdoor installation that pays homage to the courageous sacrifices of Australians in wartime.

Up to $33,000 is available for the successful applicant under the Federal Government’s Armistice Centenary Grants Program.

The project is a contemplative memorial that attracts visitors and a quiet spot for public reflection – honouring the past while celebrating the peace that those who served and supported achieved for subsequent generations.

This local installation will serve as a powerful reminder that today’s freedoms are directly attributable to the efforts of Australian service men and women from myriad conflicts.

Expressions of interest close 3pm Friday 14th September.
Initial project outlines should describe the finished form, techniques and construction modalities used, a brief budget breakdown and timeframe.
Submissions should be no more than two pages and sent to andrew.laming.mp@aph.gov.au
