Thank you also to Meryl and her team of assistants who have worked tirelessly to display truly spectacular works of art from all the artists who contributed to a very successful exhibition.

Feedback from Katrina’s Workshop
“Dear Katrina
Thank you for another wonderful workshop yesterday – it was informative, challenging and inspiring.
I’ve been struggling for some time with how to step outside the box with my own art – and with your expert guidance and encouragement I now feel I have taken quite a leap!
It was also fun - and I think all of us felt we achieved results well beyond our expectations.
I now have to get control of my “possibilities overload” and get down to some practice and production - but I also very much look forward to further classes or workshops with you.
Kind regards and again, thanks

Katrina Simmons’ Night Art Classes/Workshops

Block of 4 classes with Dr. Katrina Simmons starts Tuesday 13th November.

Email for more info. Prior booking and payment essential. Block of 4 classes $110 book online at:

“As with previous workshops I will be showing slides of artists' work and will provide some materials. I  would also encourage everyone to start collecting, sourcing and generally scrounging all sorts of interesting papers and images that you may wish to work with. I have recently been given a 30 volume set of small encyclopedias that I am happy to share with you. There are not many coloured images but still plenty of interesting things to work with. A small set of paints would also be useful this time around as well as any other materials you may wish to use. So looking forward to these new classes and will be lovely to see you there. If you have any questions about materials or class content please don't hesitate to contact me.”
Dr Katrina Simmons.

Bribie Island Community Art Gallery Members’ visit:
A very friendly, interested group of eleven potters, painters and photographers visited MIAC on Wednesday 3rd and enjoyed a delicious morning tea, preferring to sit outside soaking up the views and the ambiance of a truly beautiful spring day. They were impressed by our hospitality and the whole setup of MIAC and what we have achieved in our small community. They spent some time in the pottery shed chatting with the potters who were working there and were rather surprised at our gallery and the quality of work. Ted [Upton] wowed them with a visit to view some of his sculptures. It was a really successful day enjoyed by us all. We have been invited back to their island so let’s keep that on the agenda!
Here is the email received from Bribie Island Community Art Gallery members’ visit:
“Hi all the beautiful people at MIAC,
Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to visit your wonderful Arts Centre and pottery on Wednesday. We were inspired by your gallery, and delighted in your lovely seaside, bush setting. Thank you so much for providing such a delicious and most welcome morning tea.
We also really enjoyed our trip with Ted to the 2 gardens to see his sculptures.
We have been raving about our visit since we got back. We look forward to your visit to our gallery some time in the near future.
Every best wish,
Diane Carr, for all the Bribie visitors
