BCU Tri announced as World Championship Qualifying Event
Local event organiser, Village Sports is very pleased to announce that the 2017 bcu Coffs Tri will be an Age Group ITU World Championship Qualifying Race and double as the NSW State Championship Event.

Event Director Sinclair Black said, “This is a coup for Coffs Harbour. The bcu Coffs Tri is a homegrown event still in its infancy and has now put itself on the national triathlon calendar. We are extremely excited for the event and what it will do for our region.”

The bcu Coffs Tri is a spectacular course and showcases the essence of Coffs with a harbour swim, cycle on closed roads and a run around the Jetty foreshores incorporating the southern break wall.

The 2017 bcu Coffs Tri will carry points towards selection for the Standard Distance ITU Age Group World Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands (14-17 Sept) in 2017.

Miles Stewart, CEO of Triathlon Australia says, “The National Calendar sets to showpiece some of the best Triathlon and multisport events Australia has to offer. Not only are the events a unique experience, but our Race Directors delivering them are world class.”

The bcu Coffs Tri will be in its 5th year in 2017 and the event has grown significantly since its inception in 2013. “We are expecting numbers to increase substantially as many triathletes will use the event for their chance to qualify for the 2017 World Championships,’ said Sinclair Black.

“It is empowering for Village Sports to be endorsed by Triathlon Australia. We are excited to continue to deliver a world-class event and to add even more reasons for people from all over Australia to come and visit the beautiful Coffs Coast.

Village Sports is delighted to have naming rights sponsor, bcu on board again for the 2017 event, as well as major sponsors, C.ex Coffs and Coastal Works. “These sponsors have been with us from the outset and we are extremely grateful for their ongoing support,” said Black.

Along with the popular standard distance event (1.5km swim, 40km cycle, 10km run), the bcu Coffs Tri includes an Enticer distance for novices, as well as races for children aged 6 – 14 and promises to be a weekend full of racing action for all ages, motivations and abilities.

Entries for the 2017 bcu Coffs Tri will open in September.

August 20th and 21st 2016
(just over 4 weeks away)
Saturday the 20th August for the harder stuff
Sunday the 21st August for the mini events and the juniors

Perfect thing for the kids to sink their teeth into and maybe the adult members doing short course or getting into it to try the taste.
Those on the Saturday wishing to do less technical course would be best served going into the ENDURO which has less distance and less technical MTB and Paddle (the paddle is 3 laps of the harbour inside)
Duathlon is good for an iron athlete who wants the km and training effect with no paddle.

Casual Staff Member needed to work at JR Cycles.
We need someone who loves bikes and loves to ride to come and work on a casual basis at JR cycles.  Initially it will be Saturday mornings with the potential to work more hours as we progress.  The ideal candidate does not need to be a bike expert – they just need to enjoy their bike riding.  We are looking for someone who can talk to customers, clean up when we make a mess, run and grab coffee and generally be an extra pair of hands.  Full training provided.  If you are a happy outgoing person with a sense of humour who would like to work in a bike shop then send us a brief e-mail or give us a call – or 6651 6231.
