Have you seen our beautiful shed lately?

Our site is being transformed by the construction of a multi-purpose shed and verandah space using mostly recycled materials. This week the roof started taking shape. We're yet to decide on its final look - oiled jarrah, some painted or stencilled artwork?
While this has been going on, we've been also working on growing our orchard trees and shrubs. We had a lot of bush tucker shrubs and tubers planted as part of a Hazel Orme Kindy partnership (see more below). Looking ahead, please note these dates:
Busy Bee - Saturday 17th September / 10.30 to 1pm
Come lend a hand as we mulch, weed, feed and plant and generally get the Orchard spruced up for Spring. BYO gloves, wheelbarrows, tools and snacks. Bring the whole family down for a beautiful session in the Orchard before the summer swings around and the days get hot again.

Sullivan Hall is the place to be tomorrow...
AM: Bird Friendly Gardening Workshop, 8.30 to 12.30pm - Saturday 27th August
It’s a free workshop but you do need to register at: beyondgardens.com
See flyer for more details.

PM: Sullivan Hall Community Design Workshop, 2pm to 5pm - Saturday 27th August
Are you planning on staying in the Valley for a good couple of years?

This Saturday you have a rare opportunity to help create the physical community space that represents the beautiful community feel that already exists in the Valley. The City of Fremantle has started the discussion of future uses of Sullivan Hall, the surrounding community space and what will happen once the Men’s Shed moves, now’s your chance to put your thoughts in the mix. Afternoon tea is provided so come down for a chat and a cup of tea as we talk about what we would like to see happening in our neighbourhood’s future.
See flyer for more details.
Come spread it around - Compost & Biodynamics - Saturday 15th October - Times to be confirmed
Thanks to a most generous donation from Inuit Earth we'll have lots of beautiful biodynamic compost to keep our trees happy and looking good. Louise Edmonds will be on site with gadgets for biodynamic preparations to spray and paste on existing trees. Put it this date in the diary - more details to come!

Citrus Workshop and AGM - Saturday 23rd October pm - tbc
We are speaking to an expert to run this workshop. More details soon.
Bush Tucker Workshops
Thanks to Head Teacher Wendy Cocks for approaching us to run these workshops with the Kindy kids and Orchard members - Zoe, Teresa, Janet and Steph for co-delivering these workshops and planting activities. It was lots of fun. May we enjoy many crunchy bush tubers next Spring!
