As many of you know, Vogue Knitting LIVE will be in Bellevue at the Meydenbauer Center March 13-15, 2020. We will have our yarns and patterns available and look forward to seeing you there.
VKLclass lineup is spectacular this time around. If you are interested in registering for the event or classes, please click here.
This year we are participating again in the Anacortes Family Center's fundraiser, Dine & Shop Out to End Homelessness.
The date is Thursday, February 6th, 2020. On this one day, participating restaurants and businesses all over Anacortes agree to donate a percentage of the day's proceeds back to AFC. This is a great day to make your purchases at the shop or online.

Traveler's Vest II with Fran Jepperson
The Traveler's Vest has seen several incarnations in different yarns over the years, and this one made in our hand dyed Merino 840 is by far our favorite one yet! Simple garter stitch, mitered squares, and lots of color play are the focus here, and make for a wonderfully warm and wearable garment to get you through to spring. Materials are 6 skeins Merino 840 in different colors and 24" circular US7 needles.
This is a 2-session class and will meet Saturday, January 25th & Saturday, February 22nd, 10:30am-12:30pm with plenty of in-between time for the bulk of the knitting. Class fee is $50.
There are still several spaces left for this one!
Using Ravelry More Effectively with Gail Brown
Ravelry is an incredible online resource for knitters and crocheters of all stripes, but can sometimes feel pretty overwhelming. If you're wanting to learn the ins and outs of Ravelry and put it to more effective use (how to find and save patterns using Ravelry's wonderful filtering tools, how to post details of your own projects for future reference, etc), this is the class for you! You must already have a Ravelry account, and we will all be sharing our Ravelry names with each other. Bringing a laptop or tablet to class is highly recommended so that you can click around and do searching during the post-class Q&A time.
This is a 2-session class and will meet Saturday, February 1st & Saturday, February 8th, 10:30am-11:30am (plus follow-up Q&A time both days). Class fee is $25.
On My Needles with Fran Jepperson
Like almost everyone else in the knitting universe, I am smitten with Andrea Mowry’s beautiful cowl called The Shift. She has over 4500 listings for this pattern on Ravelry’s Project page and probably four times that number of projects that have not been posted. At one of our shop’s knitting groups, everyone around the table was either working on The Shift or had knitted one.
Like most people, what got me hooked was the way the colors play back and forth as they “shift” through the garment. On the first one, I worked with two solid colors of Fidalgo Artisan Yarn's Merino DK and one skein of Medley which is our Merino DK dyed in enticing multi-colors by our Wizard-at-the-Dye-Pot, Lori. I especially love the way the Medley yarn "shifts" with the pattern every few rows. In my knitting bag, a beautiful Medley skein of blues, teals and purples was begging to be noticed. I already had a charcoal skein so picked up a bright purple-it was perfect! I am just finishing the second one now.
The Shift is a way to experience the fun of mixing colors without having to carry two colors at a time. Best of all, the finished cowl is beautiful and fun to wear. And what about a hat to go with my Shift? Andrea Mowry’s Shiftalong Hat was perfect for using up the leftovers.
We now have both patterns in the shop and will soon have kits available, too.
