Last month, we introduced a new yarn at our online shop and have decided to call it Medley.

What makes a Medley Yarn?  A medley of color and color transitions using our Merino DK.  You will find these skeins inconsistent within the dye lot with short color runs; very different than our traditional dye techniques.

We’ve seen a few skeins knit up and they are BEAUTIFUL!  We will offer these yarns online and soon, in the shop.  OOH they are going quickly!  100% Superwash Merino 100g=246 yards.  $18.50.

Check them out on our website.

This weekend is the Annual Anacortes Arts Festival.  With over 270 artisan booths, great music, delicious food, demonstrations, and more it is an event not to be missed.  If you have a moment, come by and say hello!

Cowl of the Month #3:

Proud as a Peacock Cowl with Fran Jepperson

This cowl is perfect for autumn in our cozy Radiant DK and Merino DK (both 100% Superwash Merino)

August 17th.

Everyday Fancy with Fran Jepperson.

Join us in learning the simple lace elements that make up this beautiful and versatile poncho.  When the weather begins to cool and you want a little something extra, Everyday Fancy is just right.

Materials are 3 skeins Halo and 32" circular US5 needles (or to obtain gauge). Homework before class is to knit a gauge swatch — check with us for details.  This is a 2-session class and will meet Saturday, August 10th and Saturday, September 14th, 10:30am-12:30pm.  Class fee is $50.
Beyond Beginning Beading with Emily McNeil.

One of the joys of bead knitting is determining where and how to place beads even when a pattern doesn’t necessarily call for them — because who doesn’t love a little extra sparkle now and again? Join us for a fun class in taking your beading to the next level and learn the (not so intricate!) intricacies of placing beads on ssks, k2togs, and more. We will mostly be working on a swatch, but will discuss different lace patterns that lend themselves to beading.
Required materials are 1 skein Halo or other fingering-weight yarn, US 6 needles, a .75mm crochet hook, and 6/0 beads. This is a 1-session class and will meet Thursday, August 29th, 5:30-7:30pm.  Class fee is $25.
What's on my Needles
with Fran Jepperson
Everyday Fancy is a design that I originally imagined as kind of a summer poncho that could be thrown over a dress or light top to add a bit of flair, but not necessarily any warmth.  Knit in Euroflax linen, I love the look and drape and so do many of our customers.

To expand the seasonal use of the design, I wondered how it would work up in our new Halo, a fingering weight version of our 50/50 Blend, half alpaca and half wool.  I’m about half way up the back, and I love it.  The weight will be really nice for spring and fall in our area, it drapes beautifully and the lace stitches show up nicely.  The blend of alpaca and wool gives it a really nice hand and the alpaca adds extra warmth to a fairly light-weight garment.

Several of you have asked if there will be another class on Everyday Fancy and I’m excited to say one has been scheduled (see above).  If you are interested, please let us know.
