The AVONTUUR is coming to Bremen!

The 20 tonnes of Slokoffie is loaded and ready for the 4500 nautical mile cargo sailing expedition from Honduras to Bremen! A proud moment for Captain Bjorn, his crew and the Timbercoast community. The expedition home will take them across the Caribbean Sea to the Bahamas, up the Gulf Stream and across the Atlantic Ocean to Horta, Azores. From Horta, we'll begin preparing for a grand celebration in Bremen as she crosses the Bay of Biscay and sails through the English Channel to the North Sea home!!

This party has taken 2.5 years, 200 volunteers, 110 shareholders, the incredible Elsflether Werft, 10 professional sailors, 60 trainees, friends of the late Dr.Offer, and the support of thousands from around the world to make come true. Shining Stars of Europe video Contest Winners!

We have been recognized by the Council of the European Union and the Commission European of Luxembourg for the video Dexter Crowe made while volunteering with us. The contest was "In a short video of no more than 2 minutes, show us YOUR WAY to CONNECT, with your PEERS, the ENVIRONMENT, and YOURSELF!" With this award we have been invited to meet EU decision-makers to discuss Cargo Under Sail at the award ceremony in Luxemburg in June. Watch the video HERE.

Die Avontuur kommt nach Bremen!

Die 20 Tonnen Slokoffie sind an Bord, jetzt geht es von Honduras 4500 Seemeilen Richtung Bremen. Kapitän Björn, sein Team und die Timbercoast community sind stolz diese weite Heimreise durchs karibische Meer auf die Bahamas, den Golfstrom hinauf über den Atlantik bis nach Horta auf den Azoren anzutreten. Während die Avontuur dann über den Golf von Biskaya durch den Ärmelkanal in die Nordsee segelt, bereiten wir ein großes Fest für die Ankunft in Bremen vor. Zweieinhalb Jahre Arbeit am Schiff, 200 Freiwillige, 110 shareholder, 60 Trainees, 10 Berufssegler, die Elsflether Werft, Freunde des kürzlich verstorbenen Dr. Offer und die unglaubliche Vielzahl von Unterstützern aus der ganzen Welt haben diese Party verdient! Deshalb würden wir uns freuen, wenn ihr im Mai 2017 im Europahafen in Bremen dabei seid! Wann es soweit sein wird, erfahrt ihr bei facebook und auf unserer Internetseite – also „follow us“!

Gewinner des „Shining Stars of Europe“!

Wir sind unter den Gewinnern des Wettbewerbs „Shining Star of Europe“, ausgeschrieben vom Council of the European Union und der Commission Europeene au Luxembourg. Ziel des 2-minütigen Videos, das Dexter Crowe in seiner Zeit als freiwilliger Helfer in Elsfleth produziert hat, sollte sein, ein besonders positives Beispiel der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit zu zeigen. Das hat er geschafft! Und damit sind wir jetzt eingeladen bei der Preisverleihung im Juni in Luxemburg mit EU-Entscheidungsträgern über nachhaltige Handel auf See zu diskutieren.
