Back or Forward?

Dear Friends,

I hope this note finds you safe and well.

Family and friends who work on the front lines of this crisis continue to send me short videos of people leaving the hospital amidst cheers and masked smiles. Here is one from today at Elmhurst Hospital, Queens, NY.

My hope for each of these people -  and for all of us - is to recognize that there is only one way to get 'back' to before. It is by reaching forward. My work in transition instructs me how to do this. Transitions occur when there are shifts in what holds value and meaning to us. These shifts enable something profound; they generate new energy that allows us to claim the unrealized potential that resides in all of us. Yours might express itself as a new job; or a new commitment to a community you thrive within; or a vote for leadership willing to address the glaring inequalities that permeate our society. How it expresses itself doesn't matter. That it does is essential.

Please take a moment or two amidst the worries of today to think about those things that hold value and meaning to you.  It is this thinking that becomes the guardrails to 'forward,' the space within which the entirety of you is propelled forward.

In this newsletter, you will find:
1) Two podcasts; one about our choices and the other about uncertainty;
2) A blog post about Suspending Expectations;
3) An invitation to join me online; and
4) A great tidbit, an article on growth and resiliency!

May you welcome what you find as you explore what holds value and meaning to you, and may you realize that the world cannot live without whatever you find there.

Warmest wishes,
Linda R.
