Hi everyone,
Welcome to our September edition of The Navigator.

After a quiet month in August, in terms of Tri-Adventure events at least, we've already run a couple of really exciting events this month. The start of the Autumn Series also saw the introduction of a new category - the MTBO - which is a mountain bike only with navigation event, and we seem to be on a winner with this.

I also took advantage of the break in August to pursue one of my other passions - mountaineering (see below).

Tilford Adventure Race
Our second event in the Autumn Series is less than 3 weeks away, and is taking place at Tilford on Sunday 9 October. We've got the usual line up of events, and we're continuing with the MTBO category, which proved so successful at Shere (read more...).

Bentley Copse Adventure Race
Tilford will be followed by the November event, at a brand new location for us. We used it for the 12 hour Night & Day event in July, and we think you'll appreciate the facilities there. PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF DATE. This event will now take place on Saturday 12 November, and the venue is Bentley Copse (not Holmbury St Mary).  This will be the final Autumn event in the Series which continues through winter.  (read more...

The Hurtleberry - 4 September

Our second running of this event, on behalf of The Hurtwood, took place in reasonable weather. Attendance was affected somewhat by the extended School holidays, but all the participants seemed to enjoy themselves.  The set course, which followed arrows around the beautiful Hurtwood, was a challenging one. The Canicross proved particularly popular, and I was amazed at how well (generally speaking) all the dogs seemed to get on with one another. Event report, read more...

Shere Adventure Race - 18 September

This event kicked off our Autumn Series, and the exciting news is that the MTBO option, introduced for the first time into our suite, proved an enormous success. We had families, pairs and solos battling it out over the rugged course, and there were some excellent performances.  After all the rain in the previous seventy two hours, it was a relief to enjoy the warm sunshine on the day of the event, even though the terrain was pretty muddy in places (read more..).
Navigation Skills Training
Improve your Navigation skills and start collecting even more Check Points by attending one of my one day Navigation Courses.  I usually run them the day before a Tri-Adventure event, and the next planned course is on 8 October. I am also happy to run these courses for groups of 1-8, on a day to suit you, so just email me if you are interested. The feedback from those attending is excellent, and the application of the new knowledge is clearly evident the following day, as the participants tackle their maps with skill and confidence  CONTACT US.

My trip to the Julian Alps in Slovenia

Liz and I took ourselves off to Slovenia during the August break, so that we could catch up with friends I'd made 15 years ago on my previous visit. I again managed to get up Triglav, Slovenia's highest mountain. I planned my ascent so that I could be at the top at sunrise, and what fantastic views there were to see. I love being in the mountains, and I am a fully qualified Mountain Leader, with a lot of expeditions that I have led under my belt, so if any of you reading this Newsletter fancy a trip into the mountains, whether in the UK or abroad, just let me know and I'll organise something to suit.

And finally ...

Some of you will have seen me using a drone to do some aerial filming from time to time.  That's something else I do - I have an aerial filming and photography business, and I am fully qualified to operate commercially, with CAA approval and full insurance cover.

You can see my work and the vast range of applications that are suitable for drones on our website  Our work is of stunning quality, and costs a fraction of what a helicopter shoot would cost.
Well, that's it for this month.  I look forward to seeing you at Tilford in October, and Bentley Copse in November.
Yours in Adventuring
