A NEW PARTNERSHIP

xtreme Element Endurance Coaching

We are delighted to be partnering with E3Coach.com who provide on-line training plans for fitness and performance as well as nutrition plans, 1-2-1 coaching and V02 testing. Training plans are suitable for those enjoying outdoor adventure sport and racing for fun, as well as for the more serious athlete. Head coach Jon Fearne has over a decade of experience coaching athletes, from world champions to those just taking their first steps to exercise. As well as his years of experience coaching athletes, Jon is himself an accomplished athlete, having completed, among other things, Ironman x 6 (racing at semi-pro level) and Transalps, which is one of the most gruelling MTB stage races for amateur riders. Currently training world and European 24 hour solo MTB champions, triathletes, ultra-runners and sportive cyclists, Jon and his team are the perfect partners for us and our clients competing in Tri-Adventure events.

SHARE THE LOVE!

Bring a friend and let us thank you!

The only thing we love more than Adventure Racing is new Adventure Racers! So, to all readers who've taken part in one of our previous events (i.e. since May 2015), we would like to offer you a 50% discount off the full price entry fee of an event of your choice if you bring along someone new to one of our events. This offer will last up to, and including, Thursley Adventure Race which has now been shifted to 5th February.

Once they've entered their event, just let me know by email, events@triadventure.co.uk and I'll give you a discount code or arrange a cash refund. How simple is that? The only condition is that they cannot have taken part in one of our previous events.  This deal is only available up to the day before the event and with prior email correspondence.

And if they're completely new to navigation and Adventure Racing, no problem! They can sign up for one of my Navigation Courses (click here)

Dates for the next 12 months

We've been really busy trying to sort out dates for the foreseeable future, and they are now on our Events Page, so get them in your diary. The venues are proving a bit more difficult to book, and we'll add them to the website as details are finalised.

A number of you have suggested we should head into Kent and the North Downs, and we are actively pursuing these options, so watch this space!

An Idea ...

We've already had some very positive responses to the idea of putting on some night events during the late Autumn - early Spring months (as mentioned in last month's Navigator). The responses include adding a Canicross option, which is a really good idea. This builds on an idea I've been mulling over: one that involves putting on a number of signed 10k runs over the next few months. We'd use reflective arrows, so you will need to run with a head torch, and we'd hold the events off road in places like The Hurtwood, Bentley Copse, Whiteley Village, and so on - all still in the Surrey Hills. The typical format could be something like:
  • Saturday evening
  • Registration at 16.00
  • Briefing followed by event start at 17.30 (medal for all participants)
  • Prize Giving at 20.30
What do you think? Is this something you'd be interested in taking part in? I really would welcome as much feedback as possible, so do please email me me your thoughts.
Some reactions from our event at Tilford

Matt Zalewski - "Its great to come back to Tri-Adventure; it works your body and your mind.  That's why I really enjoy it compared to just running flat out ... you have to use your brain and keep checking where you are against where you think you are! and if you are not where you are supposed to be quickly find another route!"

New competitors Clare Howes and Katy Howes said the event was "more fun than we expected, we put ourselves under a lot of pressure to get as many checkpoints as we could, so we were delighted to find out we had come first and scored more than some of the men! We will definitely be back, bringing some of our orienteering friends with us!"

Annette McInnes "this was only my second race and after losing most of my points first time round for being back late, I set myself a target of 6 checkpoints and being home in time .... I was delighted I managed to get 8 checkpoints and have time to spare. I can't wait for my next race and increasing my target again!"

These are great comments, and show that Tri-Adventure events hit the sweet spot! Keep the comments coming.
Interested, but no MTB?

No problem!  We’ve teamed up with B1KE, who will deliver good quality Mountain Bikes to the venue for £30.  So, no excuses …   If you need a bike for one of our events, just let me know. CONTACT US.  More information about the hire details can be found here.

RECENT EVENTS UPDATE

Bentley Copse Adventure Race - 12 November

We ran this event on a Saturday, as it was my Great Auntie Jean's 90th Birthday on the Sunday. She lives in the Midlands, so we collected all the CPs on Saturday evening (mostly in the dark!), and then we all drove up there on Sunday morning, and she had a smashing time!

What a difference a day makes! When we set the course out on Friday, we had a most beautiful Autumn day – fabulous sunshine coming from a cloudless sky, and not a breath of wind. The Surrey Hills look amazing in this light, with the colours of the trees and landscape being at their best at this time of the year. It was a real pleasure to be out in that environment on Friday.(read more..).
Navigation Skills Training
Next Course, 10th December. Improve your Navigation skills and start collecting even more Check Points by attending one of my one day Navigation Courses.  I usually run them the day before a Tri-Adventure event, and I am also happy to run these courses for groups of 1-8, on a day to suit you, so just email me if you are interested. The feedback from those attending is excellent, and the application of the new knowledge is clearly evident the following day, as the participants tackle their maps with skill and confidence  CONTACT US.

And finally ... I need your help!
Some of you will have seen me using a drone to do some aerial filming at Tilford, and took the image above.  That's something else I do - I have an aerial filming and photography business, and I am fully qualified to operate commercially, with CAA approval and full insurance cover.

You can see my work and the vast range of applications that are suitable for drones on our website www.oneguy.co.uk.  Our work is of stunning quality, and costs a fraction of what a helicopter shoot would cost.

Well, that's it for this month.  I look forward to seeing you at  Bentley Copse in November, and don't forget to email me your thoughts on the Night Events above.

Yours in Adventuring
