Gauteng OD Corner

Co-opetition.
Enabling businesses and practitioners to get skillful about the mix of competition and collaboration needed for success.

Competition is a fact of life: If you don’t take opportunities there is always somebody willing to literally eat your breakfast. Yet we cannot survive in isolation! Businesses and practitioners need the collective ecosystem to thrive.

This session will give participants a practical opportunity to feel viscerally into the parts of themselves that are competitive (or wants to run a mile from the very idea), and those that are collaborative. We will explore the dilemma of creating conscious co-opetition via the strengths and challenges of pure competition and pure collaboration in the OD practitioner community as well as the wider business world (think Windows/Mac, Peugeot/Citroen). We will also use relationship systems intelligence to tune into the many voices of the system in the room, and how the collective wisdom of our group can shed light on the way forward.

Participants will walk away with deep personal and systemic insights about the role of competition and collaboration in the South African business landscape as well as the OD profession, and some conscious design about how to operate more effectively in co-opetition in future. They will also get a practical taste of the Organisation and Relationship Systems Coaching (ORSC) methodology in action.
