Call for Papers: Int'l Conference on Nuclear Knowledge Management and HR Development

Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute Becomes International Centre under IAEA Label

Interested contributors have until 15 December 2019 to submit abstracts for the IAEA International Conference on Nuclear Knowledge Management and Human Resources Development: Challenges and Opportunities, to be held in Moscow from 15 to 19 June 2020.

The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) will provide scientists from around the world access to its research reactor and facilities for training and R&D as part of the IAEA-designated International Centres based on Research Reactors (ICERR) programme.
Nuclear Operators' Forum Focuses on Sustainable Management of the Nuclear Supply Chain   Spent Fuel Management for Research Reactors: Using Decision Tools to Help Choose the Best Option
Effective and efficient oversight of the global nuclear supply chain is crucial to safety and quality in both operating nuclear facilities and nuclear new builds. Some 90 delegates attended the Nuclear Operators' Forum to discuss challenges and solutions for the sustainable management of the nuclear supply chain.
When it comes to managing spent fuel from research reactors, countries can choose from several options. But how do they determine the management strategy that is right for them? Decision tools can help Member States select a strategy; some of these tools were the focus of an event at the IAEA's 63rd General Conference.
Nuclear and Renewables: Playing Complementary Roles in Hybrid Energy Systems
Fifty Years of the IAEA's Power Reactor Information System
A hybrid energy system combining both nuclear power and renewables can help significantly reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, according to participants at an event held on the sidelines of the IAEA's 63rd General Conference.   With over 150 000 visitors each year, the IAEA's Power Reactor Information System (PRIS) is one of the Agency's most consulted resources. PRIS is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, which is commemorated as part of a Technical Meeting held in Vienna last week.
Preparing the Next Generation of the Workforce for the Nuclear Industry
IAEA Showcases Successful Environmental Remediation Initiatives
To attract and retain a new generation of talent, the nuclear industry should provide young professionals entering the workforce with a clear roadmap for their career advancement, according to experts who attended an event on the sidelines of the IAEA's 63rd General Conference.   Considerable progress in dealing with the legacies of past nuclear activities has been made over the last decade, and this remediation experience will help to resolve other environmental challenges and avoid similar cases in the future, panellists said at a side event held on the margins of the IAEA's 63rd General Conference.
