News from the Network 30 November - Video-conference on Migration
The PN in affiliation with the World Bank Group will participate in a video-conference regarding the current global migration situation. It will bring MPs from country offices in Ankara, Beirut, Berlin, Brussels, London, Paris, Tunis, and Vienna together with Ferid Belhaj, World Bank Country Director for Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. Field Visit - February 2015
The Parliamentary Network is planning a Field Visit as part of its 'Parliamentarians in the Field' programme. It will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia during 1-4 February 2016. Registration closes on 30 November 2015.
Global Parliamentary Conference (GPC) - April 2016
After the resounding success in April 2015, the Parliamentary Network in conjunction with the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund, will hold the the next annual GPC in Washington, D.C. during the week of 11 April 2016. A draft programme will be available shortly.
Interview with an MP
with Joy Gwendo
The Parliamentary Network Secretariat had a chance to sit down with Senator Joy Gwendo. She was elected to the Board of PN at the 2015 GPC in Washington, D.C. Senator Gwendo is a champion of women's empowerment and a successful journalist. We were able to interview her, posing questions about what she sees for the Network in the future, as well understanding being able to get more personal with the Senator from Kenya.
Q: How is the Parliamentary Network relevant and important to you and your colleagues internationally?
The PN held a joint-session with Members of European Parliament (MEPs) and Senior Officials from the World Bank & IMF on 17 November 2015. The session featured presentations on inequality in Sub-Saharan Africa, focusing on both non-monetary indicators of development and the Regional Economic Outlook report.
