Screenwriting Challenge of the Day

1. Choose a highly visual scene from your favorite movie or TV show

2. Watch that scene and transcribe what you see on the screen into script format

3. Make sure to describe the action and characters reactions in addition to dialogue.

The first thing to remember when writing a screenplay is that you are writing a story for the screen (not a novel or short story). You must learn to tell a story through visuals and audio.

LEARN HOW TO WRITE A SCENE
Don't just introduce a location and then fill a scene with dialogue. You must describe the scene as it would be viewed on the screen. Transcribing from the screen is a great exercise to learn how screenwriters put together images and actions to tell a story.
