Kalorama Triangle Matters!

Dear friends and neighbors,
As always, thank you for all the support and encouragement. There is a lot going on in our Kalorama Triangle and Adams Morgan – I am lucky to be your neighbor.
I would like to address the proposed development at 2341 Ashmead Pl. first. Thanks to Elizabeth, Andrew, Tom, Stephen, Sue, Tee, Carol, Ned, Anita, Christopher and Doug for joining me in testifying (written or oral) at the Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB) ( meeting on Thursday, March 31.

With the unanimous support of ANC1C, HPRB members heard from our community and stated that the developer has to continue to work with ANC1C and neighbors before going back to HPRB for another hearing. Ultimately, the development needs to be revised. This outcome is a powerful statement, and example, of community engagement and unity.
Thanks to Maggie, Chris, and Joan for working with me to bring Tai-Chi back to Kalorama Park for its second year. Check it out every Thursday at 3 pm in April and 4 pm starting in May. Enjoy!

Beyond the Kalorama Triangle, ANC1C continues to work on a settlement agreement with Line DC Hotel (, keep track of the development at 1800 Columbia Road NW (SunTrust building), and monitor the construction at Marie Reed Elementary School.
By the way, do not forget our next Kalorama Triangle clean-up on Saturday, April 16 at 10 am (meet at the corner of Belmont Rd and Ashmead Pl, weather permitting). Also, the City is in the middle of its Potholepalooza campaign (, so let’s continue to report all those potholes via or 311.
We Are One. We Are One Kalorama Triangle. We Are One Adams Morgan. We Are One City.
Please stay in contact with me via email (, Facebook, Twitter (@hector_huezo), ANC website and, of course, make sure to say hello if I run into you in our Kalorama Triangle.

Kalorama Triangle Work
Thanks to Ben (Mayor's Office Community Outreach), DDOT, DC Water, DGS, and many others, for continuing to work with me on beautifying our Kalorama Triangle. We now have new sidewalks along 20th Street, Belmont Rd., and Waterside Dr.; new pavement on Biltmore St.; and an improved intersection at 19th St. and Biltmore St.

As part of the City's Street and Sidewalk Maintenance Program, DDOT will also begin upgrading the sidewalks on Kalorama Road from 20th Street to Connecticut Avenue. This work is scheduled to start on Monday, April 11, 2016, and it is anticipated to take approximately three weeks (weather permitting). Watch out for the parking signs.

Continue to report missing signs, lights out, graffiti, potholes, etc. at or 311.
