Welcome to the second edition of our newly formatted Career newsletter! As you read through the local opportunities, jobs and internship sections, please also check out the right column as there are many valuable resources such as upcoming career events, job websites, workshops, and Career Center events. 
Now is a good time to get your resume ready for our annual Education Resume Marathon (on Election Day) with numerous education recruiters coming to Curry to provide one-on-one critiques. If you have suggestions about particular school systems or organizations about which you are curious and would like to see represented at this event, please let us know. The University of Virginia Saturday Enrichment Program is currently looking for teachers and teaching assistants - both positions are paid. Job description and application.

Champion Tutoring, a private, locally-owned tutoring company, is currently hiring a part-time Chemistry/Math tutor. Candidates must hold the minimum of a BA/BS in chemistry, math, or a relevant, related field. (Please note that 5th-year Education students, i.e., entering their 5th year in Curry's Ed. Program, will be considered as well.) Ideal candidates will have previous classroom teaching and/or tutoring experience, and are able to tutor through AP Chemistry, along with a wide variety of math topics (preferably through Calculus, though chemistry is our strongest present need). Experience tutoring SAT/ACT Math is a plus, but not required.
Our company values one-on-one pedagogy in a fun, supportive environment. Most tutoring takes place on-site at our office. We offer flexible hours, though during the school year our peak hours are weekdays from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., with some weekend hours also available. We are looking for someone who can commit through the school year (i.e., the first week of June 2016).

NEW - Arizona State University seeks an Director and Full Professor for the Division Director of Teacher Preparation. They seek an individual with a strong research program that focuses on studying and improvising teacher education at all levels from initial certification to in-service professional development as well as through graduate education. The college has a strong emphasis on improving the preparation of teachers through field-based programs, post baccalaureate programs, professional development and outreach activities, and close collaboration with school districts. In addition to initial certification programs, the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College provides graduate programs at the MA, MEd, PhD and EdD level in a number of areas. Fairfax County Public Schools, is looking for an Assistive Technology (AY) Resource Teacher. To be considered for an interview, a candidate must have a valid teacher license with special education endorsement(s); have advanced knowledge of a variety of assistive technologies; have strong technology training skills; and a working knowledge of integrating AT into classroom and community settings.

Responsibilities include: conducting individual on-site observations and technology consultations to support diverse learners. Providing direct assistive technology (AT) support to students with disabilities in classrooms . Providing comprehensive staff development and technical assistance to special education teachers, and parents related to augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), accessibility, adaptive technology peripherals, and specialized software.  Maintaining specialized equipment and troubleshooting equipment issues.  Consulting with staff on current assistive technology and supporting instructional best practices.
