Happy 2017!

Your league was super busy in 2016 and 2017 is shaping up to be just as busy.
Things we have on the go:
- hall floor replacement
- hall exterior envelope replacement
- campaigning for good urban planning with pedestrian-focused design for Jasper Avenue
- building relationships with businesses in our community
- applying for grants to offset hall costs
- planning the year's events
- and so much more.

We look forward to engaging our community in a variety of ways in 2017.  As always, please send comments, questions, or insight to info@olivercommunity.com.

Oliver Community League asked City Council in 2014 to invest in our Main Street, Jasper Avenue.  Imagine Jasper's open house held late in November allowed residents to see the draft designs. Here's what Civics Director, Dustin Martin, had to say about those designs.
The Social Advocacy Committee is underway and you'll be hearing more in the months to come about the initiatives, research, and projects of this committee. To start, take a look at our website for a list and map of social services in Oliver.  We have also linked to a couple of other great resources.

As you may know, our community league hall is available for both league events, member rentals, and non-member rentals.  Our hall is quite old and has required substantial maintenance over the past couple of years, including insulation and a new furnace.  In January our hall floor will be replaced.

Hall rentals help the league offset costs associated with the hall.  Basic utilities, janitorial, and ongoing maintenance require substantial outlay of monies.  Add to this the need for replacement of some tables and chairs and the overall operating costs become quite high.

All of this said, we continue to use the hall to its fullest for community league activities, programs, and events.  Further, the hall is available to members of the league at a reduced rate for family gatherings, parties, and the like.

Consider renting the hall for your birthday parties, holiday gatherings, wedding showers, etc and know that by doing so, you are helping to sustain the building for all of the league.  Rates and information is at Hall Rentals.
