What a summer!

From wild hail storms to super hot days, this has been an incredible summer so far.  The Oliver Community League has been busy with civics and events. From representing our community regarding developments in our neighbourhood to serving pancakes to almost 600 people on Canada Day, we have been active and having fun!
Our annual Canada Day Pancake Breakfast was a wonderful time!

Thanks to our engaged community members, we had almost 600 people enjoy pancakes, juice, coffee, and bananas.

Pancake flippers were kept busy as the line up started before 9 a.m.  Frisbees, sidewalk chalk, and Oliver Park made for live entertainment for the little ones.

With over 20 volunteers managing everything from mixing pancake batter to emptying garbages, this is a cherished event for many.

The success of the day was due largely to our community sponsors.  David Shepherd, MLA Edmonton-Centre, generously sponsored the breakfast.  Our MP, Randy Boissonault, brought a scrumptious cake to share.  Shoppers Drug Mart, Oliver Place, donated the orange juice.  And, Loblaws City Centre donated the coffee, cream, bananas, and maple syrup.  The ongoing support of Oliver businesses is sincerely appreciated by the league and residents alike.

Pancake flippers included:  MP, Randy Boissonault; MLA, David Shepherd; Councillor, Scott McKeen; President of OCL, Lisa Brown; and Vice-President of OCL, Craig Lidstone.  A special thank you to all the volunteers who commit time and energy to this event and all of our events. YOU are what make Oliver the fantastic place it is!

Jasper Avenue Renewal

Want to have your say about the Jasper Avenue renewal? Imagine Jasper wants to hear from you.

To help ‘frame’ the section of Jasper Avenue from 109 Street to 124 Street as Edmonton’s premier Main Street, the Imagine Jasper Avenue project has partnered with CITYlab and local artist Naomi Pahl. Together, they have created three interactive metal frame public art pieces. These frames invite the avenue’s users to look through them and start imagining what Jasper Avenue could be like as a Main Street.

Look through the frame - take a picture - and ask yourself: ‘what do I currently see?’ and ‘what do I want to see?’ Post your picture and your comments to Twitter or Instagram with ‪#ImagineJasperAvenue‬ and tag @CityofEdmonton.

Jasper Avenue is your main street - become part of the conversation!

Frame locations:

112 Street and Jasper Avenue, on the north side of Jasper Avenue

111 Street and Jasper Avenue, on the north side of Jasper Avenue

119 Street and Jasper Avenue, on the south side of Jasper Avenue

The frames will be out on Jasper Avenue from approximately June 29 to July 22, 2016.

If you have any questions or comments, don’t hesitate to contact or call 311.
