Statement on Racism and Current Events
______________________________________________________

All of us at the Oliver Community League believe that racism and prejudice have no place in our community, our city, and our world.

The Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues' (EFCL) Code of Conduct stipulates that Community Leagues must operate “without regard to race, creed, colour, religion, ethnic origin, sex, or political affiliation.” We, alongside the EFCL, wholeheartedly condemn racially motivated aggression and oppression, and can always be depended upon to do so.

We acknowledge the colonial history our own community was built and named on. The OCL is actively working to reconcile the damage done by those who came before us, and places inclusivity as one of our top guiding principles.

We understand that communities are stronger when we are all included, valued, and celebrated. We stand in solidarity with our neighbours who are suffering, and strive to prove this through our actions in the near future and beyond.

The Yards Newsletter Summer Edition is Out!

The Yards Summer Edition has hit mailboxes this week! Feeling as excited as we are? Share a photo of you reading The Yards online, and make sure to tag us (@OCLYEG) and The Yards (@TheYardsYEG) on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!

If you're interested in advertising in The Yards, please reach out to sales@theyardsyeg.ca for an advertiser package. The Oliver and Downtown Edmonton Community Leagues rely on organizations and businesses supporting The Yards through advertisements to ensure that we'll always be able to deliver high-quality local news to all residents of our communities. We'd love to have you on board!

Jump into our Next Board Meeting

For those interested in joining our next meeting on Wednesday, July 8, we invite you to email secretary@olivercommunity.com to get the meeting link!

If you haven't tuned in before: this is an incredible opportunity to learn more about current OCL activities, get to know the team, and let the board know what your concerns are. We'll see you (online) then!

Thank you for Joining the Oliver Park Cleanup

Thank you to all of our incredible volunteers for making our May 23rd Capital City Cleanup Day a HUGE success! ♻ Also, a big thank you to Save-On-Foods and Leston Holdings for providing our team access to their buggies and the garbage bins.

We thank our volunteers for their continued adherence to excellent physical distancing and public health protocols! Seeing you all come together during this time is a true joy, but it's even lovelier to witness your continued maintenance of a safe and healthy community for all.

COVID-19 Service & Program Impacts

Many City of Edmonton programs and services have been adjusted or impacted due to COVID-19 and/or staffing and budget constraints at this time.

This
search tool is being updated regularly to help you and your community stay in the know as the City reopens many of its programs and services.

Toolkit For Daily Life

While we're still facing a pandemic, we must also learn, adapt, and find solutions as a means of making life better for one another in Oliver and beyond.

This
toolkit provides information and activities Edmontonians can continue to enjoy while staying safe! Although things definitely aren't normal right now, helpful tips like these can
help us all stay involved in our community without putting ourselves or those around us at risk.
