Choir News July 2015

Welcome to Winter!

Hi everyone! Welcome back to Choir for Term 3, where winter is well and truly upon us and the cold weather has initiated the inevitable cycles of colds and flus. Feel free to bring a rug to rehearsal as well as a thermos of coffee/tea/milo/soup and please stay home if you're feeling unwell. For the rest of us, there's much to catch up on and lots to look forward to in the months ahead.

Our newest mini-member!

On 22nd April my husband Joel, daughter Ava and I welcomed our little man Hayden Elliot into the world. He is bright-eyed, loves cuddles and surprises us all the time with cheeky grins. Ava is a loving big sister and has enjoyed the addition to the family. Life with two little tackers has its challenges but we are lucky that Hayden has already cottoned-on to sleeping at night time, and Ava hasn't yet worked out how to climb out of her cot!

I have missed you all during my term off and look forward to coming back and hearing all your wonderful work. A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful Anthony Little for taking the reins in my absence, we hope you come back to hear us again in the future! Thank you also to Jen Gilbert and the team for enabling the transition to be a smooth one.

Please read on to find out about our upcoming performances and what's in store for the remainder of the year. Looking forward to some great music making in the weeks ahead.

Sing on!

Upcoming Performances

This term we will be preparing for two Sunday afternoon concerts at local nursing homes. We will prepare the same repertoire for both, with some vocal and instrumental solos in between to mix up the choir numbers. If you would like to perform a song please let me know - I'm sure the audience will be very kind so don't be shy!

In October we will be performing at Adelaide Sings, after which we will start preparing for our Christmas gigs which are already beginning to be booked from late November. If you know of an event that may be suitable for Vocalize Choir please get in touch - please note, however, that we no longer perform 'open air' due to the difficulties in sound quality when dealing with the elements.

2016 Concert
Planning is underway for our bi-annual concert in October next year. We are hoping to secure the Old Adelaide Gaol for a unique performance venue and will keep you posted with further details!
