Southmoor has been bursting with visitors this week. I have particularly enjoyed meeting those Year 6 parents who have requested a tour. Our pupils have also played host to nearly 200 year 6 visitors from Southmoor's feeder schools. Hill View Juniors, Valley Road Community Primary and Grangetown Primary all experienced a range of exciting lessons including art, English, science, music and languages as well as showing their craft skills in our Reading Suite. We look forward to seeing them again soon for their 'buddy day' and if your child is in Year 6 and from one of our many 'non feeder' schools, we will be organising similar events for them once all applications are received.
Year 13 get ARTiculate
Year 13 visited ARTiculation, a nationally acclaimed event at the Baltic, designed to promote the appreciation and discussion of art. Our students worked alongside sixth form groups from other schools and collectively presented their investigations after visiting the current exhibitions on display at the gallery.

What do you do at Southmoor? I have recently joined the Southmoor team to teach Maths.
Who was your favourite teacher at school? My favourite teachers at school were both Maths teachers. Mrs West, who was very eccentric and Mr Wilson who taught me at A-level. I hope I can be just as influential to my students about Maths as they were to me!
What do you like to do in your spare time? My spare time is mostly taken up by cricket in the summer months. Other than that you can occasionally find me at the Stadium of Light or boarding a plane somewhere further afield when watching Sunderland play gets too much for me!
Who is your favourite musical artist or band? Currently I am enjoying listening to the new track from the ‘Chainsmokers’ on my drive to school in the morning.
What's the best thing about Southmoor? I really enjoy being part of the Maths team we have here at Southmoor. I especially enjoyed donning Hawaiian regalia to give Maths a tropical twist at our recent Open Evening - it was so much fun!
What's the one thing you could never be without? Anyone who is taught by me will know it has to be sparkling flavoured water. A bottle a day at least. I can't get enough of the stuff!
