Friends and Family,

Peaking through the windows.

Last week we invited some friends from the village to come up to my small hut for a Bible Study. I asked my friend Darren, a visiting board member of Mission Fiji, to prepare to teach. He asked me how many people to expect. "Possibly ten people... maybe less." I said.

Soon the house was full. And people kept coming. There were around thirty people inside and we had to lay matts around the house because there was no more room. By the time Darren started teaching there were twenty more people outside sitting on the matts.

There was so much excitement and hunger to go deeper into the Word of God. Even the young boys were peeking in the windows from outside, whispering and discussing the questions that were stirred from The Prodigal Son Bible story.  "Is God angry at us? How do we know his love? What is God like?"

It was an awesome night that confirmed our Vision as a ministry to create a community on the hillside that will be a place of teaching, learning, and spending time together.

In this letter, I hope to share this exciting vision of what has been developing out here in the Fijian Islands.

Mission on the Hill.

Life on the Rock.

Duavata School of Discipleship

Jesus' said at the end of his famous sermon on the hillside (Matthew 7), "Everyone who hears these words of mine and does them" will build their life on an unshakable foundation full of deep enjoyment. They will experience life on the Rock.

As we seek to experience this quality of life, and share it with others, We are continuing to move toward a vision of a Discipleship school on the hillside. Where we will study the words of Jesus and learn how to "build our lives on them." In this past year a number of things have fallen into place to make this vision possible:
1. Last year the chief gave us land.
2. We received initial support and resource to begin creating a place on the hillside where we can serve, teach, and share the love of Jesus.
3. The Best part is that the locals are hungry and ready to hear truth and practice it in their lives.

4. We are now building a place where we can teach and host visitors, both native and westerners.

It's very exciting, however we need to finish one more phase until we can begin this next chapter of our vision.

 A Multipurpose Hut

The Hut will serve as a class room for local leadership training, lodging dorm for visiting mission teams, and Bible Study as we seek to understand and put into practice the teachings of Jesus.

Whether we host local leaders and villagers, or visiting groups who come to serve, we dream of having a place to teach and house whoever may come.
Six Rooms, One Large meeting space, two decks on each end.

Our goal is to finish the All-Purpose Hut before Christmas because a group is coming from Utah to serve the single mothers and fatherless kids in the villages.

We need to raise $10,000 to finish the Hut.

Board Members in the Village.

Darren Yager

Darren was able to come out and join us in the village for a month. He says his original plan was to just come be by my side after Jackson left, but clearly God had more in mind.  And we have been jamming since the morning he landed.

We have been pounding nails and building with the Construction Crew, eating Fijian food and spending time with the villagers, preaching in the churches, and teaching small group Bible studies.

Darren has thrown himself without hesitation into the culture, ministry, and way of life. And I see the love of God shining through him.
It is an honor to be a part of an organization with Board Members like Darren, who offer their experience and wisdom from a leadership standpoint, but are also willing and stoked to come out, take risks, and authentically participate in the Fijian way of life. Thank you Darren and to your family for the sacrifice it took to come!

Prayer Requests.

1. Vision.

Pray for God it give us clear vision and wisdom on how to best use our relationships and resources to serve the villages.

2. Finish building the All-Purpose Hut.
Pray for hearts to be sparked to help financially with this project. We really want to finish it in time for the Fiji Moms Mission Team. It's very exciting to see the possibilities of how we can serve the Fijians, as well as bring westerners to visit and make a difference in the village. Pray that God would raise up joyful givers to help us reach our vision.

3. Mission Fiji Moms

Pray for the Fiji Day Fundraiser in Salt Lake City. We pray that it will be an exciting and uplifting night as we build relationships between Native Fijians and our friends in the states. Pray for God to bring people who are excited jump into cross-cultural influence.

4. Shine

Pray that we will be filled with the character and life of God to shine light and love wherever we are.
