A Special Message from Maggie’s List Chairman Sandra Mortham

Friends:

There are key principles many of us share that I believe are especially critical this election and to the future of our great nation:

  • Less government
  • Fiscal conservatism
  • Strong national security
  • Economic prosperity through our free enterprise system
  • More freedom
  • Respect for our Constitution

These same principles hold true today and for the future. This election is too important to sit on the sidelines and allow the liberals to elect members to Congress. Every single vote is vital to our success!

We must get out the vote! We must step up to the plate and dedicate ourselves to the principles we have cherished and fought for over the years.

Thank you, and God Bless America!

CONGRESSIONAL SPOTLIGHT:
CONGRESSWOMAN MIMI WALTERS, CA-45
Congresswoman Mimi Walters, CA-45.
In the deep blue state of California, Congresswoman Mimi Walters, CA-45, is a strong advocate for Maggie’s List’s shared values of fiscal conservatism, more personal responsibility and strong national security. Congresswoman Walters is Maggie’s List’s Congressional Chair. Maggie’s List has been with her from the very beginning, and we are proud to stand by her as she seeks another term.

While in Congress, Mimi has kept her promises to her constituents. She has pushed a fiscally responsible agenda that protects private property rights and keeps taxes low. She has sponsored a bill that was signed into law—the Survivors’ Bill of Rights Act, which grants greater protections to sexual assault victims. She was also overwhelmingly elected freshman class president of the 114th Congress.

Prior to her election to Congress, Mimi was a member of the California State Senate and served as Mayor of Laguna Niguel. In the U.S. House, she is a member of the Judiciary Committee and Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Her professional experience includes working as an investment banker. Maggie's List is proud to support Congresswoman Mimi Walters!

CONGRESSIONAL SPOTLIGHT: CONGRESSWOMAN JACKIE WALORSKI, IN-2
Congresswoman Jackie Walorski, IN-2
In the electorally important state of Indiana, Congresswoman Jackie Walorski, (IN-2), is fighting hard to keep the House of Representatives red. Congresswoman Walorski is a Maggie's List endorsed candidate, and we could not be prouder of her.

She is favored to be re-elected again this year, according to the Washington-based political newsletters that evaluate congressional races. But she's not taking anything for granted.

"These are not gimme elections," Congresswoman Walorski recently told one South Bend area publication. "This is an independent district. It's a bellwether. It's a picture of what America looks like."

Her campaign focuses on national security, the impact of "heavy-handed regulations" on farmers and businesses, and taking care of veterans.

Congresswoman Walorski is a member of the House Armed Services, Veterans' Affairs, and Agriculture Committees, and chair of the Nutrition Subcommittee.

CHALLENGER SPOTLIGHT: GLO SMITH, FL-5
Glo Smith, candidate for FL-5.
With less than two weeks to Election Day, Florida voters have their first chance in years to elect an upstanding community-based leader for the Sunshine State’s District-5 seat in northeast Florida. Glo refuses to accept the injustice of her liberal challenger who is expected to follow in the footsteps of his predecessor by taking for granted the votes of District-5 citizens. That’s why she is running for Congress for a second time.

Glo is a local business owner, focusing her campaign on economic development, the military, healthcare and reducing government spending. She understands that more and more people are taking home less money but paying more in taxes. She wants to be their voice in Washington.

“First and foremost is looking at the regulations that have been imposed on small businesses,” she recently told local media news outlet, First Coast Connect.

“They are truly stifling to not only new entrepreneurship but also innovation in and of itself,” she said. “I think when we have too many regulations it stunts the growth of small businesses, and we all know that they are the backbone of our society.”

Glo is a powerful change agent who will demand true representation in Congress that will reject the status quo and inaction that has oppressed people for decades. Please encourage your friends and family in this district to vote for Glo! Maggie’s List is proud to support Glo in the 2014 and 2016 elections.

Campaign Trail

In key battleground states, Maggie’s List board members and endorsed candidates are advocating for conservative values at numerous campaign rallies as we seek to get more conservative women elected to Congress.

A recent campaign rally in Tallahassee, Florida featured Maggie’s List chairman Sandra Mortham and Maggie's List board member Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi. Former Florida Lt. Governor Jennifer Carroll, also a Maggie's List board member, has also been delivering speeches on behalf of candidates in the Sunshine State.

Also in Florida, Maggie's List New Hampshire Chair Jan Face Glassman attended an event with Ambassador Francis Rooney and Congressman Marsha Blackburn, (TN-7), who is endorsed by Maggie's List.
