Maggie's List Leaders Doing Great Things!

As we get closer to Inauguration Day, Maggie’s List Board Members, Representatives and Representatives-elect continue doing great things. This is a snapshot of recent accomplishments by individuals near and dear to Maggie’s List.

Right now, President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team includes several amazing conservative women with ties to Maggie’s List. The Trump team recently added an array of new vice chairs, staff and executive committee members. Recently, Congressman Marsha Blackburn (TN-7), Congresswoman Cynthia Lummis (WY-At Large) and Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-5) were all named as Vice Chairs. They join Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi--a Maggie's List Board member-- who is also a member of the Executive Committee and who met with the President-elect at Trump Tower in New York on Friday.

Congresswoman Virginia Foxx (NC-5) has been selected as Chairwoman of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. The former community college president is for school choice and says she will do everything possible to expunge most of President Barack Obama’s education legacy.

Long-term sanctions for Iran are heading to President Barack Obama’s desk despite his threat to veto. The bill lays out powerful restrictions related to energy, defense, and Iran’s nuclear and missile activities. It works to deny Iran the resources to support terrorism and develop weapons of mass destruction. Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (FL-27) helped lead this effort in the House.

Congresswoman Susan Brooks (IN-5) has co-sponsored legislation to stop the growing threat of “sextortion”, an online practice where criminals obtain sexual images of victims and then threaten to expose them unless their demands are met. The Interstate Sextortion Prevention Act is a push against the manipulative threat and would be listed as a specific offense which it currently is not.

Congresswoman Jackie Walorski’s (IN-2) bill to protect disabled veterans, the ‘Veterans Mobility Safety Act’, is now headed to President Barack Obama’s desk. It would direct the VA to develop a comprehensive policy regarding quality standards for providers who dispense modification services to veterans under the Automobile Adaptive Equipment Program. The bill would also authorize VA to hire and prescribe qualification for hiring hearing aid specialists. Congratulations Congresswoman Walorski!
