Kia ora koutou

We have had a busy first term with all classes working with Whaea Sandy for Hangarau matihiko.  With all of the events of late it is very important that our tamaiti are developing their awareness of what it means to be an online citizen, therefore our kaupapa for the term has been based on Digital Citizenship.

The kura cybersafety agreement , which you sign when your child firsts comes to school is our overarching guiding document for online code of conduct at kura.  Our learning has involved putting all of this into a more kid friendly version so that the children have some strategies to use when they are online.

Please take the time to read through the 15 points below from our agreement and continue to have conversations with your children about device use and online behaviour.

Student Cybersafety Use Agreement
  1. I cannot use school ICT equipment until my parent(s) and I have signed my use agreement form (see back of this page) and the completed form has been returned to school.

  2. I can only use the computers and other school ICT equipment for my schoolwork, and only with my teachers permission

  3. If I am unsure whether I am allowed to do something involving ICT, I will ask the teacher first.

  4. I will only use my user name and password and will not tell anyone else.

  5. I can only go online or access the Internet at school when a teacher gives permission and is present.

  6. I understand that I must not, at any time, use the Internet, email, mobile phones or any ICT equipment to be mean, rude, offensive, or to bully, harass, or in any way harm anyone else connected to our school, or the school itself, even if it is meant as a ‘joke’.

  7. While at school, I will not:

  • Attempt to search for things online I know are not acceptable at our school. This could include anything that is rude or violent or uses unacceptable language such as swearing

  • Make any attempt to get around, or bypass, security, monitoring and filtering that is in place at our school.

  1. If I find anything that upsets me, is mean or rude or things I know are not acceptable at our school on any ICT, I will close the browser window or file and not show others – I will get a teacher straight away.

  2. I understand that I must not download or copy any files such as music, videos, games, photos, images, text or programmes without the permission of a teacher. This is to ensure I am and the school is following copyright laws.

  3. I must have permission from school before I bring any ICT equipment/device from home. This includes things like mobile phones, iPods, games and cameras.

  4. I will not connect any device (such as a USB drive, camera or phone) to school ICT or run any software, without a teacher’s permission. This includes all wireless technologies.

  5. The school cybersafety rules apply to any ICT devices brought to school.

  6. I will ask my teacher’s permission before giving out any personal information online. I will also get permission from any other person involved.

Personal Information includes:

  • Name

  • Address

  • Email address

  • Phone numbers

  • Photos.

  1. I will respect all school lCT and will treat all ICT equipment/devices with care. This includes:

  • Not eating or drink around any technology or equipment.

  • Not intentionally disrupting the smooth running of any school ICT systems

  • Not attempting to hack or gain unauthorised access to any system

  • Following all school cybersafety rules, and not joining in if other students choose to be irresponsible with
ICT

  • Reporting any breakages/damage to a staff member.

  1. I understand that if I break these rules, the school may need to inform my parents and I will loss the privilege of accessing and using ICT at our kura.  In serious cases the school may take disciplinary action against me. I also understand that my family may be charged for repair costs.

Below are some photos showing some of our classes at work.

“He tapu te tangata ahakoa ko wai ahakoa tama ahakoa kotiro”
We have received an invitation from Te Kura o Matakana to merge with other kura for a day of whakawhanaungatanga and Rippa Rugby. This is a school excursion that will take place on Matakana Island. There will be no cost for students. We will be taking Rippa Rugby teams from each of the following years: Tau 0-3, Tau 4-5, Tau 6-8.
A pānui will be sent home shortly for the tamariki who will be attending. Please note that unfortunately we can't take the whole kura, therefore preference will be given to the tamariki who participate in the rippa module at Papamoa on Fridays. Ngā mihi.
