Welcome the latest Link Healthy Schools Newsletter. 

In this edition, we look at kids and healthy teeth, including celebrating the Link HC dental van, which has been on the road for over a year now and screened more than four thousand children! We bring you the findings from the Mission Australia Annual Youth Survey, as well as health articles, resources, workshops, training and local activities.

Link HC is Keeping Kids Smiling!

With statistics showing that 40% of children experience tooth decay at some stage in their lives, the Link Health and Community dental van has taken to the road, helping over four thousand children in its first year. We provided FREE dental check ups to over four thousand students at 22 primary schools and six preschools and kindergartens.

Annual Youth Survey 2016

The 2016 Mission Australia Youth Survey had a record 21,846 responses from 15 - 19 year olds around Australia. The results showed that young people consider alcohol & drugs and equity & discrimination to be the top two issues facing Australia today, with mental health entering the top three for the first time. Young people continued to nominate coping with stress, school or study problems and body image as their top three issues of personal concern. Over one quarter of young people indicated they had encountered some form of discrimination in the past twelve months. Read full report
