I'm usually associated with
having a passion for anything blue but I have always been drawn to black & white and if push came to shove the latter would win – I like the contrast it provides and its understated and timeless appeal. It can easily be incorporated into any living areas and brass and chrome work well with it to lift the glamour of the interior space.

Some see black & white as creating a solace atmosphere but I think it adds a freshness. You don’t have to paint whole rooms black to create the look, but merely add accessories to your existing collection such as a black wall mirror, potted urns outside the front door, black hanging pendant lights in the entrance hallway or over the dining table, black and white photographs, black chest of drawers or small ottomans and lamps.
Existing furniture can be spray painted or stained and this is an easy way to create a more contemporary interior. See the before and after photos of my antique dining table.
