Foreign Policy Audit: Ukraine-Austria
 
The discussion paper gives an overview of Ukrainian-Austrian bilateral relations over the last decade and aims at determining main interests and points of contact between the both countries. The brief is an attempt to look at Austria as a valuable partner for Ukraine, as another “door” through which Ukraine state can enter into the common European economic and cultural space.

Ukraine’s New Concept Paper on Security and Defense Reform
 
The document lays out the “Western” vision for Ukraine’s security and defense sector reform and specifies the goals for this process. The concept paper also shows that security sector reform is likely to develop at a slow pace and that it will take substantial time to be implemented. The paper further details the inherent risks to reform from problems arising from economic solvency and sustainability.

Free Trade Area between Ukraine and Member States of the European Free Trade Association

This publication focuses on the basic principles and provisions of the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and EFTA States, the principles and provisions of the agreement on agriculture between Ukraine and Norway, Switzerland and Iceland, which are part of the Agreement.

What will happen to Naftogaz?
 
The DiXi Group think tank conducted a SWOT analysis of two main unbundling models for Naftogaz Ukraine, which were proposed by both the Ministry of Energy and Coal Mining of Ukraine and Naftogaz, respectively.

Freedom House presents latest Nations in Transit – 2016 report
 
On the 28th of April in Kyiv the Freedom House in cooperation with the International Renaissance Foundation presented its latest Nations in Transit – 2016 report, which is a research project on democracy in the 29 formerly communist countries from Central Europe to Central Asia. The discussion focused on Ukraine Chapter of the report, written by Research Director of the Institute for Euro-Atlantic Cooperation in Kyiv Dr. Oleksandr Sushko and Executive Director of the Ukrainian Think Tanks Liaison Office in Brussels Dr. Olena Prystayko.

Reform of the energy sector in Ukraine: Accomplishments, challenges and EU/German leverage

On the 10th of May 2016 in Berlin, the Ukrainian Think Tanks Liaison Office in Brussels in cooperation with the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) and the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) will hold a discussion on the state of implementation of reforms in Ukraine in the energy area. The discussion will build upon the findings of a research paper by the DiXi Group think tank – “Ukraine’s Gas Sector Reform: A Future Win-Win for Ukraine and Europe” which tracks the record of reform in the energy sector and shows how positive changes can offer opportunities not only for Ukraine, but also for Germany and the EU.
