The Chinese New Year, also called the SPRING FESTIVAL, marks the start of a new year, set up by the new moon. It is a time for families and friends to get together and share meaningful memories over special meals, fireworks and gift giving.

There are many historic traditions to celebrate this special time of year.

This New Year begins on the second new moon after the winter solstice and ends on the full moon, 15 days later. The Chinese calendar system (which is lunisolar, meaning tracking time according to the cycle of the moon) differs slightly from our Western shcedule of time, which is solar based. ROOSTERS BEWARE
While we are hardworking, resourceful, courageous, and talented, it is considered unlucky to be a Rooster in the Year of the Rooster.
In Chinese astrology, this is believed to "offend" the Tai Sui, the God of Age, and therefore incur his curse of bad luck for the forthcoming year.
