Bucks County Free Library ~ Yardley-Makefield Branch is holding an ONLINE LIBRARY CARD REGISTRATION DRIVE (March 1st~March 13th)

What better way to celebrate Read Across America Week than with your VERY OWN LIBRARY CARD! During the next two weeks, the Yardley-Makefield Branch of the Bucks County Free Library will be hosting an online Library Card Registration Drive. Use the link below and use the password $choolyear2020 to access an online card application that’ll be open from March 1st - March 13th. Parents: You can sign your kids up for cards at home. Our local branch will make the library cards as the applications come in and reach out via email to let the families know when the cards are live. I will swing by the library and pick up the physical cards once the drive is over. I will then disperse them to our students when they are in school (based on the Cohort A and B schedule) or during our next Materials Distribution date if your child(ren) is 100% remote.

World Down Syndrome Day

Join us on Monday March 22nd to "Rock Our Socks" for Down Syndrome Day! Please wear mismatched socks and/or blue and yellow to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Day! Please send in 1$ or any donation! The money collected will be shared between the PTO and the Bucks County Down Syndrome Interest Group. Also please check your child's Google Classroom on Friday March 19th for a read aloud and information about Down Syndrome!

If your child is in Cohort B, students can bring in donations on Tuesday, March 23rd (there will be a schedule change that week)! Virtual students can bring them in during Materials Exchange Day.

CHESS CLASS

The next chess session will begin March 17th and run every Wednesday from 4-5pm for 8 weeks. Classes will be held over zoom and chess.com simultaneously. The cost is $120 per child. Please see the below sign up genius link to register your child.

Come learn how to play chess with National Master Bela Kis, former PA State Quick Champion, winner of the World Open U2200, and winner of Las Vegas Chess Festival U2300. Bela teaches chess full time at New Hope Academy and has led their chess team for many years. Under his guidance the team has won the PA State Championship and placed third in the National Scholastic Championship (K-12). Students will learn fundamental chess openings, sharp tactics and brilliant checkmates.
