Here is what I am loving this week ...

I decided I wasn't going to talk about food for two newsletters in a row.  (And you know I do love talking about food.)    But it's grey and rainy, and food is always good, and soup is seeming especially good right now.   A friend suggested that I write about what to wear with what jewelry.  Today, that would have to be "what earrings to wear with pajamas".  More on pajamas later,  I think that is a worthy newsletter topic.
First up is Tyler Florence's Hunters Minestrone.   This is absolutely delicious and somewhat healthy.  If you're saving some for leftovers, undercook the pasta a bit and refrigerate it separately, and add it back to the hot soup upon reheating.   That way the pasta stays al dente.  The only thing I change in his recipe is to use Jimmy Dean's hot sausage.  He calls for 3/4 lb sweet sausage, but the hot is better (and hardly spicy) and I also think it's a good idea to put the whole 1 lb package in.

This Cozy Autumn Wild Rice Soup is indeed cozy, and even better with when fiinished with some sherry.   I use a wild rice blend that you can find at the Safeway.    If you have some leftover chicken add that too.

To combat the rain, we've put the new "Tournesol" sunflower necklace on the website, and you can take 20 percent off that piece while they last with code SUN.   Throw it on over solids or prints (like this from J McLaughlin), and look pulled together with zero effort.

Enjoy your Columbus day and send your recommendations on best pajamas.   And if you're enjoying this, please consider forwarding it to a friend!   Thank you for reading.
