Message from the CEO
Dear all,

Join us in making this world a better place this World Environment day by becoming more sustainable and doing your bit to create awareness.

ELCITA is taking part in World Environment Day 2016 celebration at Kanteerava Indoor Stadium, Bengaluru organised by KSPCB on 5th and 6th June. We are putting up a stall to create awareness among public on sustainable waste and water management. We invite you all to come and visit the stall!

ELCITA is also planning some special activities for World Environment Day:
  • Planting of trees along with companies in e-city
  • Talking to government school students on the importance of recycling. Getting them to bring dry waste and we will be giving them stationary in exchange for the dry waste brought in.
  • Rainwater harvesting structures in select government schools surrounding e-city. Awareness program for the school children on rain water harvesting and waste water treatment.
  • Organizing awareness programs on waste management within member companies and assisting companies with their Environment Day activities.
  • Campaign on ban of single use disposables with shops and eateries.
If your company is also celebrating World Environment day, let us know by writing to us at subhan@elcita.in so we can showcase your activities on social media and other avenues.

Launch of TrackMe Mobile App
* Handing over the reports at ELCITA office
Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), Bengaluru, an autonomous society under Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, has rolled out a safety app for women who specifically travel at night. The app Track Me Mobi is aimed at 30-40,000 women working in the IT sector.

The passenger scans a QR code at the beginning of the trip to access the driver details which can be shared with a family member then.

The app informs family members right at the start of the trip of the person’s whereabouts and continues to confirm throughout the trip if the passenger is fine or not. The unique pin system ensures that the driver cannot tamper with the app. If no information reaches the family members periodically, the app assumes the person is in distress and immediately alerts people in a 3 step process.

Track Me Mobi also works in the absence of an internet connection, sending automatic text messages. It also offers a fare calculation based on estimated distance and constant tracking of the route.

e-citizen
I came to Bangalore from Nepal just six months ago. I work as a security guard at a hotel in Electronics City. I stay in a room in the neighbourhood near Ganesh Temple with my friends. My working hours are from 8.30 a.m to 8.30 p.m. Even after having such long shifts, I feel good to be here as I used to fascinated by high-rise buildings and big offices during my childhood. Now I see so many people coming from different offices to have their lunch at this place. For me, this is the best time of the day.

I miss my village Tanahun where I used to stay with my parents and siblings, but my friends and my workplace make me feel at home.

* e-citizen is a series that portrays different facets of people working in Electronics City.
DID YOU KNOW?
