Message from the CEO

Dear all,

Electronics City is home to top industries in the Electronics, Technology and Software space. One of our foremost duties is to provide a safe and secure environment for our members and we have taken many steps to ensure that.

A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and a Quick Reaction Team is deployed at e-city. CISF also helps trains security personnel from the companies. ELCITA and industry teams are trained on fire fighting and fire prevention.

In a first, a mock exercise on terrorism-related disasters was organized last year at Electronic City by State Disaster Management Authority, Gok, in collaboration with National Disaster Management Authority (Ministry of Home Affairs, GoI),  Garuda Force (Counter Terrorism Team of Karnataka Police), National Disaster Response Force, Karnataka Fire and Emergency Services, Karnataka Police Bomb Disposal Team, Bangalore District Medical Team, CISF, and ELCITA Security participated in the exercise. This combined exercise with the coordination of all agencies will be a great help in dealing with any crisis and disaster management at e-city.

A few months ago, we were part of an interactive session to discuss Anti Terrorism measures and Cyber Security by Police Centre for Counter Terrorism, GoK and Cyber-crime at Data Security Council of India (DSCI). We had also organized a workshop on Cyber Crimes, Cyber Security and Data Protection.

They say emergency preparedness is a team sport. We request all e-city industries and employees to be vigilant and work with us to ensure safety and security is always top priority.

- Rama N S

Understanding the garment workers and PF protests
A few weeks ago Bengaluru was rocked by protests by garment workers and other factory workers. Many of us may have been affected by it especially due to resultant traffic jams. Let us understand about the workers’ lives, how much do they earn and what is the current situation:

I’m a content writer at a marketing agency in Electronics City for the past two years. I stay at Doddathogur and come to work everyday by bike. Electronics City is the first place I visited when I came to Bangalore for the first time in 2014, and the first thing that impressed me was the great tree cover here.

I’m working here from the time the company was setup. I used to walk every day from my PG to office during my early office days. It is always a pleasure, the pavements are neatly laid out, and the roads are well maintained.

I write marketing collaterals such as web content, blogs, and newsletters for businesses and entrepreneurs. I love my job as I write on different domains every day, ranging from technology to social service.

* e-citizen is a series that portrays different facets of people working in Electronics City.

Electronics City is the first industrial township in India to get a security cover from the CISF.
