Message from the CEO
Many of you may have noticed some trees being cut inside Electronic City in the recent past. This was a hard decision that we at ELCITA have had to take.

There is a critical need for pavements and widening of road in some areas of Electronics City to facilitate the movement of pedestrians and smooth flow of traffic. Currently there are no pavements in some places, forcing pedestrians to walk on the road. This has caused several serious accidents in the past.

There is also a need to ease traffic and prevent congestion so that employees can reach their office on time without speeding, which may further lead to accidents. Given a choice between safety of human lives and trees, we have to choose lives over trees. We are committed to keeping Electronic City a green space and would never cut trees without considering alternatives.

For felling these trees, we approached the forest department as per the rules. The DCFO (Deputy Conservator of Forests) gave permission only after being completely convinced about the need. The Forest Department have themselves taken up the task of tree cutting.

In order to compensate for the cutting of trees, we have in the past transplanted some of them and would be doing so in the future too. We have also been planting saplings in and around E-city to increase the green cover and mitigate the trees cut.

Quasitum e-City gets EDGE Green building certificate from World Bank
* Quasitum Campus - Electronics City
World Bank/IFC along with GBCI, has issued the EDGE green building certificate for Quasitum’s Ecity building. This is the first office building in India to be certified by World Bank and comes it after an extensive audit. The final certification after installation of equipment will take the energy savings up to 43%.

Quasitum q-four, a 110,000+ sq ft (SBA) office GREEN building goes ‘beyond green’ by combining energy efficiency with ecologically smart construction to create a superior work environment in Electronics City, Bangalore.

This building is unique in the sense it goes beyond the traditional “Green” concept and delivers exceptional value to clients in terms of reduction in energy costs. Energy consumption is about 45% lower than any conventional Class ‘A’ building. This is achieved through unique design features and material selection.

In addition, water conservation and recycling using rain water harvesting and reusing of treated sewage water, and use of local materials, contribute to alleviating environmental concerns. A central courtyard and a garden makes it a fabulous working environment. Open space at the back allows us to add another 125,000-150,000 sq ft or so of office or R&D space, which can be built to suit clients.

Thank you Electronics City!
It was heartening to see your overwhelming response toward relief materials contribution for Chennai Flood victims. We received water cans/bottles, bed sheets, good life milk, some groceries, biscuits, bread loafs, buns, clothes, mosquito repellent, footwear, coffee powder from companies and colleges. ELCITA also bought relief materials and sent it to Chennai.

We took the help of Infosys to send these items. Sneham, from Infosys helped us in distributing the items to the needy.

The rains had choked Chennai and we truly stood by at the hour of need. All our efforts to gather relief materials from every possible source was useful and ELCITA thanks everyone who contributed to help the flood victims of Chennai.

e-citizen
I work at the e-auto toll booth in Electronics City and my shift timings are from 2 pm to 10 pm. I'm working here for the past 10 days and I'm seeing how the number of commuters to Electronics City are increasing day by day.

We have a 20-member team at the toll booth and we discuss with the auto drivers before fixing the list of commute charges for various locations. People in Electronics City find it really useful to get an auto from the e-auto toll booth rather than any other auto.

I'm a B.Sc. graduate and I spend my leisure time at my uncle's mechanic shop. I always ensure that no task goes wrong at work and I take the help of my senior whenever there is some complexity involved.
