GIS Day!!
2016 GIS Day – November 15, 2016
University of Texas at San Antonio

The 2016 SAGISDay will be celebrated on Tuesday November 15 at the HEB University Center on the main campus of UTSA.  Come share your GIS world with area high school students by being a presenter, exhibitor, demonstrator, or volunteer for 2016 SAGISDay.  We are also currently seeking sponsors and submissions of printed maps for the map gallery, so be sure to email Helena Schaefer, the 2016 SAGISDay coordinator, for more information.   We need your help to make this year a huge success!
A Letter from the President
AAGIS Members and Friends,

As we usher in the fall season, I am excited to share with you the many events that AAGIS will be hosting.
Our biggest event of the year, SAGISDay, is coming up on Tuesday, November 15!  This is my favorite event as we are able to give young people the opportunity to see into the real applications of GIS.  This greatly benefits them by giving them a greater understanding of careers available to them and allows professionals the opportunity to showcase their work.  We still are looking for sponsors, exhibitors, and volunteers, so I hope that you’ll join us in any capacity that you’re able.  October is around the corner and that is the month of our Quarterly Meeting, so please look for next month’s newsletter with more information.  Our quarterly meeting is a great time for professionals to come together to share knowledge and network.   If you can’t wait to network we have our monthly happy hour scheduled for September 22 and would like to see you there.
Having a local geospatial community here in San Antonio is a great thing and it wouldn’t be possible without you.  Thank you for contributing and making all we do possible.  I look forward to seeing you on the 22nd!

Santiago Jaramillo
AAGIS President
Calling All Volunteers!
