News and Views and Win, Win, Win!

The paperback edition of Endings will be out on April 17th. (Feel free to order now!) And barely a month later, the book that follows Endings in this series, Exit Strategy will be published. As I write this, I am deeply immersed in the creation of the third book in this series, Dead West which will be published in the late spring of 2023 and continues the journey of this character who has already captured the imagination of so many.

Exit Strategy is out May 17th

If you enjoyed 2021’s Endings, I think you will enjoy Exit Strategy, too. This time out, though, our heartbroken protagonist finds herself dealing with some family matters she’d rather not think about. At the same time, she’s trying to protect Virginia Martin, an entrepreneur with tech that might change the world: if she manages to live that long.

If you enjoyed following the news about Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos, it’s likely you will dig Exit Strategy. Virginia Martin is certainly not Holmes and her passion project is nothing like Theranos. Still, there elements that connect these two high profile women struggling to make their way in a male dominated field.

Here Comes Endings in Paperback

If you’ve been waiting to read Endings in paperback, wait no more!

For various reasons, it’s looking like this book is going to have legs. Reader mail has often been so moving (thank you!), except in cases where it has been mean and scary. (Life being short, if you’re in that camp, you probably don’t subscribe!)

Of course, one of the highlights was optioning Endings to Hollywood! This was engineered by my fabulous film & television agents, Mary Alice Kier & Anna Cottle of Cine/Lit Representation, under the loving eye of my literary agent, Kimberley Cameron of Kimberley Cameron & Associates. There are elements of this deal that  I still can’t talk about. Of all the things I don’t know, I do know that the intention is for this to be a series. I’m so looking forward to seeing what I imagined, reimagined in someone else’s vision. I’ll keep you posted!

Also, if you feel like sharing the book with your friends, here’s the book club reading guide.

New Normal, Anyone?

As I write this, it is almost exactly two years since all of us got serious about Corona. (Mmm-Mmmm-Ahhh-My-Corona. Never mind. I seem to have a Knack for that. Sorry.)

As it happens, that is also when Left Coast Crime 2020, San Diego, got canceled due to same. And, more or less, we’ve been staying home ever since. But no longer. At least, that’s what I’m hoping. I’m scheduled to attend Left Coast Crime #32, Southwest Sleuths, April 7 to 10. My hotel is booked and my panels are scheduled. Bring on watermelon-colored mountains and crime!

If you’re planning on being there, please let me know. There are many opportunities for socialization and I’d love to meet you there.

You can read more about the conference here.
