Today I am sharing with your our very sobering glimpses of Rowdy Girl Sanctuary since the beginning of Hurricane Harvey. The glimpses are from the air, and even though we expected to see what we saw, it did not prepare us for the reality of the scene.
Rooftops and treetops. The roof of a vehicle left behind. The rest of the sanctuary is submerged in a sea of brown.
We can’t even begin to know what the recovery will look like yet, all we can do is wait and watch, sickened and sad, for the water to eventually recede.
In the meantime, our animals continue to receive love and care, safe from harm.
Our list of critical needs for right now continues to grow -- especially hay. The cattle are going through hay so quickly and we need medications and animal care supplies. We need fuel to get between our different sites.
We are depending so much on loyal and committed supporters just like you to help us continue to weather this storm. We are so grateful for you. You are the reason we are able to keep going despite the exhaustion and enormity of our challenges. You are the reason we are able to have hope for Rowdy Girl Sanctuary’s future -- and that of the sweet souls who call it home.
