Our Monster Book Fair is here!

We are open tonight (Tuesday) until 7:00 p.m., and during school until 2:00 on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday we close at 11:30 a.m.

Proceeds from our book fair go toward purchasing books for our school library.

Lots of people have asked about our LUNCH with GRANDS event. We are saddened to say that, due to budget cuts and cafeteria staff reductions, we are unable to offer it this fall. Of course, we would love our GRANDS to join us during our regular book fair hours!

If you miss an item at the book fair, you can order it online, and our school library still benefits. Please use the link below:

THANKS for your support!

A NOTE FROM YOUR ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL MR. LISTER

"Change for the Season"

For the weeks of: Monday Nov. 2nd- Friday Nov. 13th, Glen Arden is going to ask that our school community including staff, students, parents, and family members collect spare change at home to donate towards our “Change for the Season” drive that will help support our Winter Wishes fund that helps to support family needs in our community during the fall / winter season including food, winter weather gear, etc.

Students and staff can participate by bringing a Ziplock-like baggy of spare change to school.  The change will be collected and our school is hoping to fill up an entire water jug by Friday, November 13th!

NOTE FROM YOUR ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL MR. LISTER

Every Month a special group of staff members are chosen to be recognized on the bucket filler bulletin board.  The month of October we are recognizing kindergarten teachers and instructional assistants and our intensive intervention teachers Ms. Gayer and Ms. Moore and their instructional assistants

We ask staff, students, and parents to find a little time to write a kind note (bucket filler notes found in a bucket on the bulletin board) to recognize how much these staff members are appreciated!

A NOTE FROM YOUR SCHOOL COUNSELOR MRS. LINDSEY

As you know, Zach Eden and I are using the Second Step program in your child’s classroom. The Second Step program teaches children important skills for getting along with others and doing well in school. It also helps our school be a safe, respectful place where everyone can learn.
To further help our school be a safe and respectful place, we are also going to use the Second Step Bullying Prevention Unit. In the lessons, your child will learn specific skills to help stop bullying. Students will learn how to:
  1. Recognize when bullying is happening
  2. Report bullying to a caring adult
  3. Refuse to let bullying happen to themselves or others
  4. Be a bystander who stands up and is part of the solution to bullying
In addition, your child will bring home simple, fun activities called Home Links that will help you understand what your child is learning about bullying at school. They also give your child another chance to practice skills for handling bullying.
For bullying prevention to work, everyone at school needs to be involved. So all our staff will get special training in how to:
  1. Recognize and respond to bullying
  2. Support children who have been bullied
  3. Correct behaviors of children who are bullying
  4. Use strategies that support a positive school and classroom climate
And we need your help, too! Get involved in making our school a safe and respectful place by letting us know if you hear about bullying at our school. Make sure your child knows to tell you or someone at school if he or she is being bullied. And give your child the clear message that it is never okay to bully others.
If you have any questions about the Bullying Prevention Unit or the Second Step program, please contact me. Thank you for helping us make our school a safe, respectful place where everyone can learn.
Sincerely,
Beth Lindsey
