“soft re-opening" post COVID-19! 

We have had the go ahead from NSW government to re open the Pilates studio from Monday 15th June 2020. We are looking forward to welcoming you back. There will have to be some 're shuffling' of the regular diary, during this transition time back to full operations. Not all instructors will be back yet, and some clients may chose to remain on ' zoom' online sessions at this stage. Apologies in advance if your regular session is not quite available yet.
Please make sure you check with admin before returning to your regular session.

Things might look a little different when you visit the studio too. We have re-arranged the studio so we can have two rooms for Pilates to provide adequate social distancing. One group will be in the main studio and the other group will be in the glass room out the back (where we have temporarily moved equipment to).  One room will be run by a physio and the other room will be run by a Pilates instructor. Sessions run without Physio supervision are not eligible for private health fund rebates.

What to expect when you are doing
face to face (f2f) Pilates: 

  • Please arrive on time. Unfortunately, we do not have space during crossover to maintain sufficient social distancing if you arrive to the studio early
  • You may be asked screening questions and have your temperature taken prior to exercising
  • On arrival, you will be asked to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds
  • Please expect your instructor to manage your movements around the studio while you are in your session i.e.: please wait to be directed
  • Depending on the number of face to face clients, we may have 1 online zoom client also attending the session
  • If you cough or sneeze, we will ask you to wash your hands again before touching another surface for hygiene sake
  • Once you have washed your hands, please be mindful of touching your face and hair during the session
  • Due to the thorough cleaning of equipment, sessions will finish 5 minutes earlier to allow staff sufficient time to execute this process 

Please bring the following items in your PILATES pack:

  • a large clean towel to place over equipment whilst you exercise
  • your own theraband and any other props e.g. massage balls (if you have them)
  • clean, sticky socks
  • clean gloves (optional) (discount stores sell cotton gloves)
  • Mask (optional)
  • If you forget your towel, we will have some for a $5 rent fee to cover laundry costs.
Susie can assist you with purchasing a studio Pilates pack, with calico bag, towel and props, if you prefer. Please let me know so I can arrange this for you. 
We have been busy behind the scenes at Activate Physio and Evolution Pilates. We are upgrading our practice management system, to a 'cloud based' system which will make it easier to book and pay online and let our instructors and physios check their schedules from home. We hope to launch this 1st July. 

Welcome to our new physio, Jenna Rose Gold. Jen is taking hands on physio consultations and Pilates exercise rehab sessions in the studio. Jenna will be working in the studio Monday am, Tuesday pm, Friday am, and doing physio consultations and private sessions each day. Contact admin to book with her now.

Jen graduated with a Master of Physiotherapy from the University of Technology with a background in exercise and sport science.  
Being involved in sport since a young age, competing nationally in swimming, she developed a passion for treating sport and exercise related injuries, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for people of all ages. 
Jenna has a special interest in post operative management, shoulder pain, exercise rehab and helping people return to doing what they love. She takes pride in addressing the underlying cause of the problem, rather than only treating the symptoms which prevents the risk of re -injury.
In her spare time Jenna enjoys spending time catching a sunrise over the ocean and exploring the great outdoors. 
How Can we Cultivate Peace of Mind During This Stressful Time?
Big Changes have happened, often with some uncertainty, worry and anxiety. Stress impacts us mentally physically and emotionally, affecting our clear logical thinking, sleep, interactions and can affect our immune system. 
Sue Beecher is an experienced meditation teacher and registered psychologist. She has been guiding us through Tuesday lunchtime relaxation and meditation techniques. She will continue her 12-1230pm  weekly sessions via zoom invitation, for a donation.

I am delighted to introduce Shona Lee, who will be using the Evolution Pilates massage rooms on Sundays, Wednesday pm and Friday am. Shona and I always cross paths through dance connections and around Sydney. Shona has been my massage therapist too. She has done massage therapy for Bangarra dance and Sydney Dance Co. performers.
